Hope you can get a nice landing....

I have just been given a "tip" for an easy crossing, so I thought I would share it here... apparently if the line at the border is really long, go through the duty free part, because it brings you right in front afterwards! might not be the most obvious one, but a friend of mine did that, and avoided a long waiting line

Landed today!!! We started out early yesterday morning, but by the time we got to Buffalo I was too sick to wait in line at the border. I changed our GPS to send us to the nearest hotel, and I spent the night in and out of the washroom. :-X :-X :-X

It turned out to be around the corner from the Bills stadium. Leaving the hotel this morning got a little hairy, but when we got to the border, there were as many cars as there were open lanes. Southbound traffic, as you might imagine, was awful, but we were in and out of immigration in no time. So, if you want a quick and easy landing, do it at the Peace Bridge when the Bills are playing at home. 8) 8) 8) ;D ;D ;D

Husband landed yesterday! It was a loooooooooong drive from Tucson, Arizona (28 hours). We crossed in Sweetgrass at Montana/Alberta. It was super easy, it took less than 20 minutes, although he was just doing the landing, the actual move happens in March so there was no car importing or b4 forms. He's flying back to Arizona tomorrow, but we made it down to Service Canada to get his SIN today.

Things are finally moving a little bit with our file! My husband is required to go for an interview on February 4. Could someone update the spreadsheet accordingly? Thanks!

Good luck for the waiting part CKnD - hope you hear soon, but I know your VO has a very long waiting time. There are still quite a few applicants waiting ( was checking the spreadsheet earlier), so you're definitely not alone, but I doubt that it makes it easier.

Congrats, that's great to hear! for my VO, the "decision made" usually appears when they send out the letter/COPR ( not when they issue the visa, it was done 3 days before) so hopefully it's the same for yours and your passport is already on the way back!

I think I noticed that too with a lot of people that were processed in LA. I'm going to go check the tracking number I have for the return envelope I sent and see if it's already in process. If not, I'm gonna be checking every day.

ivelinan, has there been any word on your application? I know you were processed the same time as me.

it's almost the end of the "checking process"! first CIC website for first stage approvals time, then ecas when that was done, then the forum to know who was getting processed, now the post to see if the passport is coming back... and then it's over!

Hey guys, I'm still waiting as well. My passport was requested in the beginning of November being processed through Ottawa. I noticed others processed at that time received PR at the beginning of December. At the beginning of December I did receive a Visitors Record that I had applied for earlier but no PR. I finally emailed Ottawa today for a status update thinking the Visitors Record somehow delayed or confused matters. Hoping I hear back soon. Good luck to all still waiting!

I have basically not heard anything since the sponsor approval.. so i got fed up and ordered my efile on dec. 2nd. The annoying thing is, the file itself took a moth to arrive. Got an email on jan. 2nd and it said that we have not provided enough material proof of the relationship and so since 9/25 my status is "further review required" but they have not asked me for anything. It also said that the file will be pending for 2 moth ( no explanation why) and on dec. 3 new activity was resumed, but still no letters of any kind from them.nn

Granted it's our fault for not having substantial proof but the thing iswe just didn't have much to send them. We are really not big on pictures, we lived in my family home so no lease and when we were apart we talked on facebook which history's we cannot export.
Plus we have a 10 years gap in age which i am sure is probably a red flag.

Now that i have been in canada for over a year we have a lot more and we're sending an additional informationpackage tomorrow. Any advice? What did you guys send as proof of relationship?

If you've been in Canada for over a year, that's a very good point, and sending proofs of it should help for sure. You can try and get letters from friends and family about your couple. As well, you can asked to be added on your partner's canadian bank account, and show that as proofs.
You can also get a life insurance with the other person as the sole beneficiary.It's not very expensive, and it's a good proof that you are a couple - and if you don't want it after you get the PR, you can always cancel it later on.
History on facebook - you can copy and paste it from facebook into a word document and include that.
