We aren't big on pictures either; we started saving emails, and I sifted through thoses and printed out a whole stack over the course of a year and sent that in. I also sent in copies of what pictures we did have, and copies of items that I saved from trips we had together (ex. the brochure from the zoo in canada we went to).

If you've been in Canada for over a year, that's a very good point, and sending proofs of it should help for sure. You can try and get letters from friends and family about your couple. As well, you can asked to be added on your partner's canadian bank account, and show that as proofs.
You can also get a life insurance with the other person as the sole beneficiary. It's not very expensive, and it's a good proof that you are a couple - and if you don't want it afteryou get the PR, you can always cancel it later on.
History on facebook - you can copy and paste it from facebook into a word document and include that.
good luck,
Sweden

Yes we have joint banking, visa, lease, and phone accounts and a lot more pictures naturally :) Sending all that in. I honestly that should be enough.

it seems that it will be indeed - and don't worry about the age gap - we also have a 10 years gap and were approved without trouble, being a US/Can couple you are not suspected of trying to get a status in Canada by emigrating, so as soon as they get more proofs of relationship, they should be able to start again working on your file.
Fingers crossed!

Thanks, that sounds encouraging :) hope you are right.

Hi everyone,

Is it true that we should not staple documents and use paper clips in the materials that we send to CIC? I think I remember reading something like that somewhere.

However, I'm not sure how to organize the photos if I don't use paper clips or something else. But if for example they pass the envelopes through metal detectors, or for whatever other reason they hate paper clips, will that cause a problem? Does anyone know?

Thanks

Hey Ivelinan,

the reason that CIC asks not to use staples is because they have to scan a lot of documents when they get to the office, and if you put staples, well it takes time to take them out one by one....
So if you use paper clips, then it makes it easier for them, and will save time - if you have used staples in the past, it won't be returned or anything, but the more people use staples, the longer it takes to scan the papers into the system...
So paperclips work if you want to get your pictures together. Another way (that's what I did) is that I printed them 3 per pages, with a caption under each explaining who was doing what etc... so like this it keeps them organised ( and reduces the number of pages sent).
Good luck,
Sweden

I actually printed the pictures at a photo place already, so will leave them with the paper clips and sticky notes.
Thanks.

that works - as long as it's easy to separate then it should be all good! I would advise to write on the back of the pictures, in case the sticky notes get separated, so the explanation doesn't get lost.
Good luck,
Sweden

On my Ecas it only says decision made on sponsor, and is still application received for the applicant. no medical result received at all.. am i supposed to be seeing that on Ecas as well? The address showing is both the sponsor's address and it hasnt been changed till now. Will this means mine hasnt been touched by the VO at all? :(

Hello everyone, my ecas has changed to in process for the first time since my wife attended an interview in visa office outside Canada on November 28th 2012. They said they started processing on January 10th 2013. Could someone pls tell me the meaning of that and how long would it take to hear from them again. Thanks in advance.....

Hey everyone,

So I just wanted you guys to know that my passport is on it's way back from LA. It'll be here after 3pm EST (hopefully it'll have my COPR too). I'll give an update later tonight with more information, but it looks like it's finally done.

For those curious, I was asked to send in a self-addressed stamped envelope when I sent in my passport. So I sent one that was express mail, and had a tracking number on it so I could check. Less stalking of the mailman that way. :P
