Recently the Canadian consulate in Taiwan has closed its visa section since Taiwanese dont need a visa to visit Canada. Now all the Premanent residency visas go through the Hong Kong office. I have been living in Taiwan for 6 years and got married about 6 months ago. I have no worries about anyone thinking our marriage is not legit, we had a huge wedding, records showing we worked in the same office 5 years ago ect. What worries me is the timeline in H kong says 19 months if I apply for her when i go back to Canada. I dont see how this can be when i read about other couples that went through Hong Kong and were reunited within months. Do they lump some mainland Chinese with the HK office? Will HK Chinese and Taiwanese be treated faster because they dont require visas? Any one with any experinces since the Taipei office switched to HK? Im loosing sleep over this, id appreciate any replies.
