@ Yoda it calls for serious concern but what can one do than to just be concerned?

Hey Guys

Since Vienna seems convincingly useless, I am somehow considering transferring my case to Accra. I could process my case in Accra Visa Office too. And Accra Visa Office is showing a steady and visible progress. I have not made up my mind but I might move it if nothing happens before the end of the year.
I am afraid if that is going to be a smart decision or turn out to be counter productive but I am currently doing my research on that.
Accra seems to be very fast - please check 3rd line in the table - the link is in my signature.
Another question is how fast they will transfer your case. If it the transfer request will be processed in a few months that won't help you much.

Thanks for the info. When did you get this request, and how (e-mail or snail mail)?
According to my GMCS notes, the VOs seem to do a preliminary check on the file re completeness (this was done in Berlin, though).
We received the request via email on 28 August. I thought the same thing, that Vienna might have just been doing an initial check, but in any event at least someone at Vienna has opened our file and had a look!

Right Mavado, that is what I am trying to find out too. I believe they shouldn't take too much time as the case is stored electronically. That shouldn't take too much of their administrative time but still, Vienna could delay till next year those guys are "no good". What I intend to do is send them an inquiry after 2 weeks of (notifying them to transfer my case) to confirm whether it has been sent and whether I am cleared to forward a confirmation inquiry to Accra. (Still haven't made up my mind tho, I am continuing to keep track of the pace at Accra)

And without any explanation whatsoever.
The comatose condition began after the closure of Berlin and Belgrade VOs last April - at first, this was kind of to be expected, because of reorganization issues. However, nothing has happened since (at least in economic classes, I am only aware of two pre-c50 cases which were processed and finalized this spring).
You would recall that it has been my believe since the whole of this year that Vienna is deliberately slowing things down, now I seem to be very right, they are playing some internal politics with our cases. They want to give an indication that Vienna is busy by encouraging backlogs through strategically delaying certain cases. And they can not be punished for it since Kenney had officially given all VOs up until 2014 (for economic class) to finalize all cases. So by now, it is obvious that they are playing to Kenney's 2014 deadline and Kenney gave that deadline as "worst case scenario" kind of. So while other VOs are working ahead of the deadline, Vienna is apparently and unfortunately working with the deadline, In that case, they have nothing to offer us other than the "worst case scenario". I can't believe we would still be hopelessly waiting by the end of 2013.

So BC2013, it doesn't matter whether u like it or not, the Ruthless Almighty Tyrannical Vienna has caused ur name to technically transformed to BC2014 against your will and without ur consent...lol We shall laugh about this some day, I hope.

Bear in mind, that there is also a "physical file", which will have to be transferred, too.

You are right. Once they request a medical, the rest of the process should be pretty fast (from earlier cases - that was before the closures - other people's timelines were like MR - medical done, and 1/2 - 1 month later DM). Let's hope for the best ;)
Had considered Alberta (Calgary Area) at first, too - but winters are too long and severe in that part of the country (and too much water early summer). Lower Mainland BC is what we are aiming for.

Hi Everyone,

After I applied online the other day, I found this forum, browsed a bit, and got a very pessimistic impression.

My situation and questions are as follows, if some of you with experience would comment on it, I would appreciate it.

I am a knowledge migrant of Turkish origin in Netherlands. I have done my post graduate studies in Germany. I work here in Netherlands in a tech company with good compensation on an indefinite contract.

I have couple of members of my family in Canada, they PRs and citizens. I applied for a temporary resident visa for multiple entry into Canada yesterday and today I received a submission confirmation.

My purpose of visit is just for tourism to visit my family over holidays.

I have supplied all the necessary documents that were required. Proof of income, bank statements, employer letter, invitation letter etc. I travel frequently for business, I have supplied some of my boarding cards and passport stamps that I could find.

As I see here, the processing times are relatively long. I believe it is very clear from my application that I have no intent to stay in Canada, but just to visit for tourism. Like regular tourist visas other countries issue. Would you reckon my application will be so complicated to process?

Second, I travel frequently for business and need my passport. If there is a positive outcome on my application, will I have to send in my passport? There is a Visa office I believe in Dusseldorf which is very close to me, cant I go there and have my visa?

If I have to send in my passport for 10+ days, I will actually have to forget about it because I cant afford to do that.

Any comment will be welcome,
Thanks.

Hey Traveler,

U can't have ur visa at the VAC in Dusseldorf, It is only a collection point for visa application. And as far is I know, U must sure submit ur passport in ur application package. And concerning processing time, if u are very sure that u can't afford not to risk leaving ur passport out of ur possession for more than 10 days, dont try it. Go ahead only if u think u can risk it cos the chances that u will get ur passport back in 10 days are very slim. U may try to read thru the thread and see other ppl's experience.

Good luck!

I sent a CSI to Vienna and they replied within 2 days as follows:

With reference to your enquiry below please be informed that our processing times can be checked at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index-can.asp. Please note that these processing times are based on how long it took to process 80 percent of cases between July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. Processing times are subject to change and are updated quaterly.

We will contact you in due course if we need additional documents.
Yours sincerely,

I knew what they were going tell me though, I just wanted to hear from them anyways.

Oh, well. Nothing new at my end, either ::)
And I am well beyond the 80% mark - it will be 23 months this saturday ...
Sometimes it feels like there will never ever be any process at all - no, it is more like all the time now

The only positive thing (well, sort of) is that no one else is getting anything from Vienna, so they have not forgotten, lost, misplaced, had a good laugh and threw it in a dumpster, etc. my file, or it wasn't just a dream to have it sent - I hope ;)

Well I havent sent my passport with my application, since I applied online. Well, if I get a response from them telling me that I need to submit my passport, then I would ask them to find a middle way. I mean if it is approved and just needs to be stamped, in this modern day and ages, why would it take 10+ or more days.

We will see.

Looks like however a lot of lacking information, i wouldnt have applied and paid 150$ for my application, if I knew I had to part with my passport that long. I mean people who travel for business, should not work for that duration?

Strange. Lets stay positive and see what happens.

Hello Everyone!

My husband left Canada yesterday, he had no status so he left in hope to return asap as we have a child together. He overstayed 4 years and was approached by CBIS at the airport upon departure. They wrote down his return information and asked him all sorts of questions, gave him back his ticket and passport and that's it. I called our lawyer and she advised we apply outland through Vienna as they will most likely deny him entry when he returns. So, it looks like I'm part of this group now - application will go in this week or the next, as soon as I can gather what I need. I'm not looking forward to this journey and we're both gutted to be apart. I'm looking at the processing times, not looking good. I hope this moves quickly so I don't have to raise our child alone.

Here we goo.. :'(

Welcome, and good luck with your application.

However, this thread is used mostly by people who applied in the economic class, or TRV. There is another Vienna thread in the Family section of this forum, which you might want to check:

Hey Traveller,

I just got back from Canada. I too have family living in Canada, but work in Germany and come from Iran. I applied through the Dusseldorf visa office, I gave my passport with my application. I had my passport back after 18 days. I think if your application gets approved, you can go to the Canadian embassy in Vienna and get your visa stamped in your visa on the same day.
