Welcome, and good luck with your application.

However, this thread is used mostly by people who applied in the economic class, or TRV. There is another Vienna thread in the Family section of this forum, which you might want to check:
Ahh I see, thank you very much BC2013. I appreciate it! Good luck on your journey!

Hey Traveller,

I just got back from Canada. I too have family living in Canada, but work in Germany and come from Iran. I applied through the Dusseldorf visa office, I gave my passport with my application. I had my passport back after 18 days. I think if your application gets approved, you can go to the Canadian embassy in Vienna and get your visa stamped in your visa on the same day.
Thanks Topak, lets see how fast it moves.

I did an online application, so I am waiting for a response.

If you think after they requested Medical, Everything goes fast,, please look at my timeline, and think again.,..
???

You are right. Once they request a medical, the rest of the process should be pretty fast (from earlier cases - that was before the closures - other people's timelines were like MR - medical done, and 1/2 - 1 month later DM). Let's hope for the best ;)
Had considered Alberta (Calgary Area) at first, too - but winters are too long and severe in that part of the country (and too much water early summer). Lower Mainland BC is what we are aiming for.

If I remember correctly, you were/are stuck in backgroud checks - this no one can predict (do you have a military history, etc.?).
Before that, you were probably just as unfortunate as the rest of us - stuck in the reorganization procedure, after Vienna received all the files from Berlin and Belgrade.

But I am wondering if they still do any much more background check after issuing medical request.

They might - from what I gathered from the manuals, it might be criminality and special checks regarding military background. And it seems that the procedure differs from one VO to another.

Actually I'm not a man and I don't have any military history and my husband also didn't go , don't know
what are they really checking???
as I know if you get medical it means every security passed, I do have travel history but I sent PCC from one other country. In Europe that I've been there for years as a student..I hope this process get over soon and all of us get our maple leaf soon...

Processing times have been updated - it is now 20 months for FSW (from 19 months previously).
Which is actually not too bad. I am now at 23 months ... ::)

P.S.
And they seem to be done with MI1 applicants, as there is no data in this column. In the data-spreadsheet (000023.xls) as of April 9, 2013, there were only 23 open MI1 and 9 open MI2 cases, so they should be done with them, at least.
So keep your fingers crossed, that they will now tackle the MI3 backlog

You are MI3 FSW-2:
-MI3 was introduced July 1, 2011 for those without a job offer (FSW-1) until May 2012 (when the cap of 10,000 was reached),
-MI3 was at the same time introduced for those with a job offer (FSW-2) until May 2013 (when new rules for FSW were introduced)
-MI4 was introduced sometime in November 2011 (as FSW-3) for those with a PhD from a Canadian University

As you have a job offer, you should have priority over those without. However, I have no idea how they actually handle this, compared to the waiting time.

Regarding new 2013 applicants, the minister at the time (Kenney) had stated in April 2013, that they would receive no priority (!) over previous applicants. However, looking at the actual processing at several VOs (e.g. CPP-O, but also some other VOs like Hong Kong and some in South America), they do seem to prioritize those new applicants at least at some VOs. Vienna did not do anything with those new applications yet, as far as I am aware.

Processing time on the website is the 80% percentile, meaning 80% of the finalized applications (within a certain period of time preceding the publication date on the website, probably the last 12 months) had to wait 20 months or less from the receive date of those applications. It does not say anything about the other 20%...

I am an FSW 2013 applicant by the way, so we are contenders in a way ;), as I personally hope they will process us within a year according to a promise by the minister, which would require some kind of priority also, looking at PR inventory of Vienna.

I always wanted to ask about arranged employment though. What kind of employer waits almost 2 years for a foreign worker? Seems out of this world to me... Even more, considering the fact that you applied choosing Vienna, meaning you were not in Canada for more than 1 year at the time. How does this work?

Makes no sense to wait that long, who knows what will happen with employment when I get PR, really funny. My employer wait for AEO(arranged employment opinion) from HRSCD about four months, and after that I waiting almost 12 months in VO.. ridiculous isn't it :(
