Yes, I updated my letter after I received my GCMS notes. There was a note in my application put by SL01732 that had analyzed my application and had not accepted my RA reference letter because it missed the lead statement.
Then, I updated my RA reference letter which it has been accepted when assessed by FA01772.

The conclusion from my case:

1- They accept the update of IELTS score if it is sent before the final decision.
2- They accepted the update of reference letter which was sent before the final assessment.
3- They gave me extra points for the work experience between application and assessment ( I had 2 years of RA when submitted the application. My updated letter was 3 year. The officer accepted the letter and gave me 19 points for 3 years of work experience)

You were so lucky to find this written in your GCMS note! I know that you applied in April 2012, but when did SL01732 analyzed your application? I am trying to find out when do they analyze the application and forward it to FA01772 for the final decision, it would be helpful to order the GCMS notes at that time to figure out what the next step is.

I received the proof of fund request from Ottawa today:


Dear xxxx xxxx:

We have reviewed your application with regard to your IELTS test results and it appears that a computer error caused the miscalculation. We have adjusted the points awarded to your application accordingly and your application does meet the requirement for 67 points. As a result, your application has been re-opened and will continue in process.



We now require evidence that you have minimum funds as required under the Federal Skilled Worker Class. Please provide evidence of funds which are completely available, transferrable and unencumbered by debt or other obligations. Evidence of account activity for the past six months must also be submitted.


The email is from FA01772.

I think it is not a routine approach as my CAIPS does not show any pre-analysis of my application by anyone. It was directly rejected by the first officer. I will keep you updated as soon as I get my next CAIPS.

I am glad that several members here have been able to send updated letters of reference, and got there work experience approved because of it The particular rule to support this can be found from page 28 of OP6B

Officers must take into account any years of experience that occur between application and assessment, and for which the applicant has submitted the necessary documentation (R77)

However, I could not find such statement from OP6C, which may (or may not) mean that we can no longer send updated letter of reference after date of submission if our applications are received after May 4 2013. The subsection 77 would be key to the whole thing, and I have not studied this enough. We need to know whether they will still accept updated letter of reference submitted after submission but before assessment, or if they have closed this loop hole once and for all

I don't think they will count 5 more adaptability points if they are not counting the extra work experience from the updated reference letter. However, I would definitely try, should provide them with a cover letter and baby's birth certificate with detail information. It shouldn't hurt

I just took a look at my old application GCMS notes, the first note was by SL01732 he wrote, PA appears not to meet R75(2) on March 7. The second note was written by FA01772 on March 8, PA has less than 1 year of work experience that meets R75(2), as per 75(3) I must refuse the application.
Beh467 was lucky because FA01772 took a long time to make the decision after SL017732 recommendation.
