how long it takes to process spouse visa in nairobi?i want to sponsor my spouse

Sorry to tell you but i checked off the site, and it seems to be the worst office, Only 80% of case in 26 months, that seems really crazy, but thats what it says.

any way to make it less than 26 months

There is no real way.Make sure you have everything required and add as much proof as you can to prove your relationship.Make sure your documents are separated as they should be,for ex people have put their sponsors app in a folder, then put the sponsored (permant resident) in another folder, and your proof in another, put little notes on your pics and other proof to explain them....other than that its totally up to them.
But it goes into the pile and is sorted by date, once you send it to mississauga which is about 60 days there, then they end it to the visa office which says 26 months but that timeline may change.
It very well could be a lot sooner it just depends on them.Even if you call thats the answer they will give. Its pretty standard replies from them.

i heard poeple saying nairobi is the worst visa office anyone going through with spouse visa in nairobi please share me with ur exp

I checked the search engine for you to see if anyone else has gonee through there when you enter nairobi, you are the only one, others likely went somewhere else after they seen the timeline lol.

hope it'll be okay and iam going to submit and see how long?

Well best of luck and hope its not too long it could be a lot less than posted i guess your right just submitt and see how it goes.

Nairobi's office is very slow, and a lot of spouses get refused. My husband is from Nigeria, and so his application went through Accra, Ghana, which is also extremely slow.
Now I wish we had done this: My husband and I got tired of waiting and being apart, so he and I moved to another country - Malaysia, in our case. He has been admitted to Malaysia legally for a year, so that means we could have done our application through the Malaysia office, which is a lot faster and the refusal rate is lower.
We submitted his application in January 2008. If, instead, we had gone to Malaysia then and submitted it there, it would be done by now. Even if he was rejected, the appeal would be over by now too. Instead, we are still waiting.

If you can, go to another country with a short waiting time on average, get admitted for a year - study visa, maybe -and apply through there. Your spouse can come visit you there while you wait at least as easily as visiting you in Kenya.

I know not everyone could do this, but I sure wish my husband and I had. It would have been cheaper, too.

Based on another message board with people using the Nairobi office, the time line has started to pick up. Many are now receiving their Visa's in as little as 7 months.
More agents were sent to Nairobi to clean up the back-log, so please think positively.
As for being denied, you really have to have no proof of anything or got married in a space ship. Most applicants are given Visas since most are legit. If you know your relationship is legit - it is not hard to send proof or say what is in your heart.
Fill out all the forms, send lots of proof contact your MP for an inquire if you feel the time is too slow.

MsMobas,

I tried to send you a personal message but your inbox is full.

I am sponsoring my husband through Accra, and would love to find out the link for this other forum. I am hoping to find somewhere with more African applicants.

The CIC website says Accra processes in 10-20 mos, yet just last week someone here on this forum received his visa after only 6 months! It's very encouraging.

Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

The timelines were shortened, hope it continues to do so.
Nairobi is the worst office - it is very sad for many families who are kept apart.

Not sure if I can join you guys here, as I am a different category. Sponsoring orphaned niece and nephew thru the Nairobi Office. Nairobi received my application end of November last year, was thinking will hear from them next year. Yesterday, received a letter in the mail, apparently want more stuff... proof of relationship..similar to what they require from a spouse, asked things like telephone bills, bank statements, pictures, proof that I have visited them etc. ...imagine from minor children. Although, they are asking me for stuff, suprised they got my file when they actually gave me 22 months.

Good luck everybody...will keep you posted.

Cheers!

When you are sponsoring children you have adopted, they want proof that you have developed a parent-child bond. This is especially true if the children are related to you, since it often looks to CIC as if you are just trying to help relatives enter Canada. So therefore they want proof you and the children have a close relationship, that you maintain close contact, that you are interested in their lives, etc. - more than just the interest any aunt or uncle would have in their niece and nephew. So you have to show you are acting as a parent would in regards to their education, medical care, general care, and so on.
