Hooray!!! That's exciting!! Can you stop smiling?? Cause I can't stop smiling!! We sent the passport today! Sent it through DHL in La Romana.they said it should arrive tomorrow.

Hahah yeah I will send it with DHL too from Toronto..

Hey Everyone,

Just thought I'd check in. We sent the passport late Wednesday afternoon from La Romana. So late that it didn't really go anywhere till Thursday. I've been tracking it faithfully. I have to say I thought it be a bit quicker, but as long as it gets there before the 2 weeks I'm happy. Last time I check it was leaving Cincinnati, USA....oh scratch that. I just paused to check again and it has arrived at the Mexico City at the "sorting facility". I have to laugh because at this point the passport has traveled more than my husband. It has gone from DR to Puerto Rico to USA to Mexico....all since Thursday pretty much. I'm happy to see it going and tracking it. We sent it with DHL and having that tracking number is just LOVELY!

Some thinking though....what's next? Like I know that they will put the visa inside the passport, but do the COPR paperwork come back with the passport? Or does it come through email later? I'm just curious as to what to expect. Do they just email us when the passport is on its way back? Do folks get it ACTUALLY in 2 weeks or is it longer? Really I'm just looking for some ideas of what we should be expecting. We are not worried about travel timelines as I already have a trip booked to go there in January for several weeks so he will just return home with me once that's over while ALSO making sure we are back BEFORE his visa expires.

Any knowledge and thoughts would be appreciated! I'm still soooooo excited and just keep imagining my husband in winter gear. Gonna welcome him to Northwestern Ontario winter's right off the hop! haha..

That's exciting that the passport is on the way there!!!

My husband went to the embassy in Santo Domingo, in person, to pick up his passport and documents when Emailed us to tell us the application was fibalized. Now, the Mexico VO might be different but in SD he picked up his passport with the Visa affixed inside along with the final paperwork which included his Confirmation of Permanent Residency (COPR) document. So hopefully they will simply include that paperwork with his passport and visa when they mail it back!

Good luck and let us know how everything goes. I also welcomed my husband here in the month of January and the cold was definitely a shock but it was also a huge novelty for him. I'm sure that will wear off in a couple of years if not this winter that we're going into now!!!

soo we applied for a visitor visa for my husband, while we wait out this process and wait for an interview date... and to our surprise it was approved!!!

Hey question....
What is your status? Like how long have ya been together? Strong financial? Etc? I'm just trying to see for a friend who was denied today. I get curious about how they decide and if ya had a strong case.

Either way... Congrats!!!

Good for you guys sb414! Smart idea! glad you were approved. It's something we considered doing from the start - a dual intent application - but chose not too. Now with our processing delay we are hoping Canada quickly removes the visa requirement for Mexicans so that we can, at least, consider travelling there before the visa decision...

Hope you get an interview scheduled soon!

We debated doing it or not, and I decided to take a chance... we had nothing to lose! We are both still really shocked, but it is such a relief to know he will be coming for the holidays!
He dropped his passport off yesterday at the Visa Application Centre in Santo Domingo and they told him he can come pick it up in 10 days! woohoo
