Hi,
Just curious, how do they figure out the visa expiry date?
So how long do you got to use the visa once you get it.

Thanks

I just asked my husband and he said that he had 4 months to use the Visa after it was issued. This information was in his confirmation of permanent residency document.

Hope that helps!

Good day from the DR waiting for the PR Visa through Mexico.

I was asked for additional documents and they were sent and received in Mexico on December 3rd.
Got an email today that they have not received them as of yet.
I sent them a response email with a copy of the UPS receipt and name of who received the package and asked for further instructions.

How long is the normal response time when you respond to an email?

Any suggestions on what do to?
Any way to call them?

Oh My God!!!
So good to hear that it does really happen to go fast for some people. I just checked today the delays for sponsorship of a spouse in dominicana through the santo domingo office and i felt overwhelmed.
Have been with my husband for 3 years and travelling every 3 months to stay there for a month, i am slowly thinking of going to live there until he can come home to me.
I submitted in december 2015 and just can't wait to have some news. If i would have known i would have submitted quicker but we thought allowing for a well thought Relationship and wedding was a good idea..... Now let's pray.... Just about to go crazy and scared thinking 15 months more could be possible

I've heard different times. I was just wondering if they had some formula.

Thanks

Some news from the interview yesterday with cbc.

Spousal sponsorship delays 'unacceptable'

The minister said the Liberals are committed to reducing wait times, not just for those sponsoring parents and grandparents, but also for those sponsoring spouses and common-law partners, children, and caregivers.

"That's a huge item on our agenda, which we will be addressing in the coming months," McCallum said.

Canadians who want to sponsor their spouses have also grown increasingly frustrated with long processing times.

In December 2014, amid complaints of growing delays, then–Immigration Minister Chris Alexander launched a one-year pilot project intended to issue open work permits more quickly to the spouses of Canadians already living in the country but waiting for permanent residency.

According to the Immigration Department's website, the current wait time for sponsoring a spouse or common-law partner is over two years if they live in Canada and upwards of 17 months for those living outside the country.

"Over the years, there have not been enough resources devoted to the spouses," McCallum said.

"I think that's unacceptable and that is one of the things we are determined to address."

The Liberals have budgeted an additional $25 million to reduce application processing times in 2016-17, followed by an additional $50 million a year for the next three years.

How do I know "the last medical assessment on file".
Starting Date for Calculating the 12 Month Validity Period of a Medical Certificate: the last medical assessment on file is the starting date for the 12 month validity of a medical certificate.
(definition from CIC)

The medical exam was done 12 months ago.
Processing starting June 3, 2015.

if your medical was done 12 months ago then it is expired! Medicals are valid for 1 year from the date you did them! CIC can extend the medical for up to another 3 to 12 months or send you out to do another one! Regardless, CIC will make sure the medical is valid when your visa is issued and you have up until before the medical expires to land in Canada! Your COPR will tell you how long you have to land! Again every case is different!

Say you make plans for something and then you get a notice that you have to leave in the middle of your plans, This would suck and you could lose out on money spent.

I would be nice if the had some kind of date, like say no early date.
