Thank you misseliza so, os it's after you received the next email that they send it to SD, do you know how long it usually takes after they send the first email, and the Sponsorship Approval?

Yes, when you receive the Sponsorship Approval e-mail, they will inform you that your package is being forwarded to SD for further processing. For us, our package arrived in SD at the very beginning of Sept. 2014 and my husband got called for his interview in mid-November, so pretty quick!! After the successful interview, they requested his passport a few weeks later and then took a few more weeks for him to get the passport back with the Visa inside, as it happened to fall right over the Christmas Holidays! So overall, from the time it got to SD to the time he got his passport back with the Visa, was only 4 months. But every case is different...stay positive and busy :)

My husband received notification a month ago from SD, but it still doesn't show on Ecas that his medicals were received. They were done in November, and submitted with the package.
Is that normal for it not to show?

this same thing happened to me! I sent my medicals in with the application and medicals received never showed up! After 2 and a half months of waiting I did a CSI and CIC responded saying they received my medicals! Then it showed up in ecas a week later! I guess it really does depend on the individual case

E-cas is definitely not the most reliable tool! I wouldn't assume they haven't received the medicals just because Ecas doesn't confirm they've been received.

Does this mean that since we sent my husbands medical in with our application that we may have to point out the fact that we sent it? It seems a little silly that they don't just formally acknowledge it immediately. I feel like I'm babysitting our application from a distance. The waiting is KILLING me FYI.

I think it will be okay either way! It won't hurt to send them a CSI inquiring if they received it, but I'm sure they have it! I just think the SDVO is very lax in the way they do things! I don't think they use ecas at all until they make a decision on an application!

Can I just say that I love that this forum exist and that I get to talk to all you great folks that are also in relationships with Dominicans or Dominicans yourself. It makes me happy just knowing that when I have a question I have a handful of people that may have or are experiencing the same thing as us. So lovely and helpful!!

OMG! I was thinking the same thing. The other forums are great, but it really helps having conversations with people who have gone through and are going through the same VO and application process. Where in DR is your husband 2worlds1love?

My husband's from San Pedro de Macoris, but works in Punta Cana... so he spends time between the two as he works a lot!

My husband is from Puerto Plata and works in Bavaro. He wants to quit, but says he's staying to keep busy and save money before while he waits. And I hear you about the waiting, I'm slowly going crazy. At night I just imagine my application buried under a pile on some vo's desk, waiting to be looked at. So close, but so far away. I have no patience.

My husband is from Puerto Plata too! He worked at Cofresi Palm for years. How often do you make it down to DR to visit your hubby? I miss going to the DR every few months...it became my second home!!!! We are planning a vacation there in November. I think I'm more excited to go than he is!!! Heheh. Anyways on a scale of impatient to patient, I'm at about a zero!!! The wait was excruciating for me and I didn't handle it well at all no matter how much everyone tried to reassure me, etc. At least you already have 6 months of waiting finished and out of the way but I know every day feels like one year!!!

I go every two to three months, I was just there two weeks ago and go back at the end of May. We have daughter together, so I have to visit regularly. Cofresi is one of our hotels, that and Barcelo, but I hate resort life. Sometimes we stay in an apartment. My husband probably knows your husband, I wouldn't be surprised, he knows everybody and he seems to know everybody at Lifestyles LOL! And I hear you -- I love the DR. That's one of the things I will miss when this process is over, the frequent trips. The waiting is painful, but everyday brings me closer. It will be awesome for you to actually travel to the Dominican WITH your husband and COME BACK to Toronto with him.

This is crazy but I think our husbands do know each other! We got married last May at the Barcelo and we met a really nice couple with a really cute daughter. The girl was from Toronto and the guy from Puerto Plata. We helped them with a few application-related things and she even took a screenshot of my phone to get the info for the Doctor information in SD for the medical test. Is that you guys?!? I have this funny feeling that it's you!? My husbands hotel name was "Rambo". Lol!!

2worlds1love- Are you apart of the Dominicano Spouse group on fb? So many more lovely people to talk with who can relate to our situations. I'm very grateful for this forum as well.

My husband lives very close to San Pedro actually.

Surprisingly the wait isn't killing me yet. Maybe once I start hearing from CIC i'll be a ball of nerves. I'm very excited for this.

Misseliza- We can all hope for a timeline similar to yours. Fingers crossed!!!

OMG! It was MEEEEEEE! HOLY *censored word* GIRL! Excuse the profanity, but it was me and my hubby! We always used to run into you and your husband! We met on the pathway to the beach at Barcelo on a Sunday night and you were going home on the Tuesday, it was the day before the May 24 holiday and I took a photo and video of the address of the doctors office in SD for the medical. My husband told me in January that your husband texted him that he was in Toronto. OMG, I'm tripping out right now. This is a freaking small world. We keep running into each other...OMG!
