You should call the hot line and explain your situation....my personal opinion is that you must have this funds, otherwise you may not be accepted...since they put a limit I think they would make a big deal of it.
But call the hot line, they will advise you better.

hi,

i'm currently preparing the documents i will be sending to cic. I got my nomination last feb 9.
Regarding the proof of funds, should my funds really need to be $10,833?
I've been here in the US for just a year and a couple of months and my money and other funds are not even close to $10000.

Can't I just send the bank certification eventhough I have less than $10000? Will that affect my application?
All along I thought there are no fund requirements for the Strategic stream.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

2 cents of advise but not a substitute for professional advise :)

if u can get a loan temporarily to show account balance ... then u could
get a letter from bank saying u r having xxx amount of funds in ur account

i have sent only account balance statement and i think it should work...

second thing u dont need to send proof of funds right away at time of filing to buffalo
u can even send it latter when they ask for it

Did you mean that you applied for CIC or to get Nomination from Alberta?

How do you know that the cashed you money? They only accept money order and certified checks so there is no way to know that they cash it....Am I wrong?

CIC says you must send everything they ask on the checklist, otherwise they would return your application.
The loan idea is a good one, but start saving money if you plan to move to Canada, you will probably need to prove it again when you land.

How can I track mine then?
Can you please explain me what your bank told you? I use bank of america.

Also...why you said second stage of CIC? I sent my check the first time I applied. Have you received AOR already?
Are you considering getting nominated by Alberta as stage one?

I have another one:

IF the funds has to be $10,833 CAD that means they are $8,680.98 USD we can send this amount in our bank statement? or we need to have $10,833 in USD?

For those already looking for a Job in Canada, but that are still living in the USA. One recommendation I could give them is that you guys try as much as you can to give a Canadian adress and phone number whenever you are applying for a job in Canada, even if u stated u live outside the country, always leave a contact number inside Canada. This recommendation I got also from my lawyer, and some recruiters. So if you can get a friend or family in Canada who adress and phone number you could use, or even from ppl from here who has friends or family over there who are willing to help.
Flori,
Quick question to you, If the vendor asks you about your working status in Canada. What you supposed to tell them. Since we only have AINP certificate. Please share your thoughts.
Thanks

u]Tell that you are authorized to work in Province of Alberta without any sponsorship need. I assume that you have recieved PNP certificate. Mostly vendors they don't go in much deep in details. But In case if he ask tell him that You have recieved PNP and PR Visa is on his way and with the permission of AINP you are authorized to work in Alberta Province and as a proof you can show them or fax them or email them you letter issued by PNP which give you the permission to apply for work permit. I mean you can email both documents your PNP certificate and the other letter issued by Alberta PNP to your vendor and convince them. Even still you vendor is doubtful about your work rights, give him telephone number 780.427.6419 and ask him to call this office and enquire about your work rights then everything will be fine
Ok and suppose the vendor agree to hire you, how long it will take to CIC to give your temporary working permit? the vendor sure will ask when you will be able to start working

I am guessing they are expecting it to be in CAD... so if you can put USD amount and then in to paranthesis (equivalent to xxxxx CAD at rate of conversion 1USD = XXXCAD) then i believe it should be fine...

good luck

No only send fund in CAD!! They will return your application. They don't have time to do conversion and also exchange rate varies every minute. Therefore go to any bank or go to travelex counter and they will give you DD in canadian Dollars.
www.travelex.com
put the zip code in location finder and go to nearest counter.

I am going to cross my fingers since I provided a statement in US dollars :)) .... however I checked all over the CIC instructions and they say about providing translations, certifications for some documents, originals for others, etc; but it doesn't say anything about providing money conversion if the proof of funds is not CAD dollars....
I would say that if they are going to reject a case base on these grounds, they must "explicitly" include this information in the instructions....
or maybe I just miss it and my case is screwed??

u r right inge... i have provided statement in USD too...
my suggestion to mention equivalent of CAD is just incases where
it is not clear if the funds will convince the expected amount set by CIC
then it might not hurt to mention that equivalence...

I think everybody send their bank statements in USD to CIC, and travelex.com looks more for travelers, this will be useful at the moment of landing.

"....they will give you DD in canadian Dollars."

What DD means?

My bank statetement is in USD and they have accepted my application and my fee which was in USD has also been encashed by CIC Buffalo

CIC Buffalo gives explicit guidelines on the fees

It will not be a rejection but application will return which you can re-submit Once you attach CAD Draft. But time and process will be long since it will be re-application.
