I disagree. We need to put pressure on CIC, it is unacceptable that these applications are taking 36+ months. We live in a developed country and I cannot comprehend that they still have not resolved these cases when new applications take 6-8 months to process. The problem is that we should have been vocal about this years ago. Lets us keep up the pressure otherwise they will completely ignore our applications.
I reckon good lawyer is only help now. Get together with a group of people and ask for discount on his/her services.

There's some activity on twitter around these RQ delays, maybe we could join and add more voices, maybe really contact the press and probably the opposition, maybe they would care about us a bit more, maybe not, who knows...

Not sure if a lawyer can do much at this point unfortunately. It almost seems like even lawmakers cant do anything to at least attempt to improve the process. No persons should have their citizenship application held up for months just because CIC has concerns that some people maybe trying to game the system. According to an internal review that was done by CIC a few months ago (I cannot remember exactly when) only about 1% of all applications are fraudulent. Why should we be penalized because of that

Hi everyone, I am really feeling you all because my husband is going through the stressful waiting process since 2011 and yet to date we are still waiting....

my husbands outline.....

1. Received our application for Canadian citizenship October 12, 2011/ sent us the book

2. Started processing the application on March 27, 2012.

3. Fingerprint letter on July 23, 2012.

4. May 29, 2013 citizen test passed 16/20 + RQ after the interview at Scarborough office

5. RQ sent by hand to Scarborough office July 18, 2013

6. File sent to St. Clair July 22nd, 2013

7. We sent you a letter on October 1, 2014. This letter i believe was just to buy them time it had no usefulness information, they just explained that the 36 month waiting was just as approximate waiting time

8. They requested 2nd fingerprint November 13, 2014

9. They sent us 2nd mini RQ November 10, 2014 they just requested colored copy of the passport and any travel documents .

10. They sent us final notice for fingerprint December 29, 2014 we had to reply with a copy of receipt for the fingerprint taken. Plus we had to contact RCMP to ask for reason of delay.

11. January 28,2015 we called CIC at last they said everything is ok and the file was transferred back to Scarborough since the 20th of January and waiting for oath schedule.

Hi all,

I wanted to create a new thread for all 2011 and 2012 applicants that are still waiting on Oath. It would be good to have an idea how many people have passed the 36 months or are approaching it. We really need to be proactive about this otherwise CIC will completely ignore our applications and focus on new ones. Please provide timeline if possible. Thanks

Oct 2011 - Application Received
July 2012 - Received RQ
March 2014 - Passed Test
January 2015 - Received CIT 0520
Hi djoli
I can see your outline is almost like my husband's and I noticed that CIC is sending out these mini RQ requesting documents that we already provide them with... I am assuming its a way to buy them time.. it sucks but lets stand up strong and not give up....

I applied in Nov 2012, not a peep from CIC till date. Just got the book and no test was scheduled. Is there a way to file a class action suit?

For such delay on some applications, while other applications, even with RQ, are moving so fast? Basically, is there a way to ease this delay for the 2011/2012/2013 applicants?

its ridicules how CIC work so fast on new applications because they paid the extra money, while other old files are let behind sitting on shelves' with dust on them.. even with all the calling and effort of contacting them, they do not bother to take the file out for a view,,,. I am really hoping for you to hear something from them but don't stop living your life waiting for them, enjoy your time and travel as much as you like... crossing fingers for someone to hear something soon....

Your application has been processing for more than 36 months now, that is unacceptable. Keep calling CIC and ask them what the delay is about, they really need to make a decision on these cases ASAP, there is no reason for them to delay your application at this point.

It is good to have this forum. Here are my details:

Application: April 2012
Processing: November 2012
Test: February 2013 (RQ given on test day)
RQ submitted: March 2013
CIC office Mississauga

File transferred to St. Claire for RQ review in October 2014 (more than 18 months from the date of the RQ submittal)

From a call to CIC recently I learnt that an officer has been assigned to the file in January 2015
