Seems like being a male applicant put one's at higher risk of experiencing processing delays increase the chance of being subjected to RQ. Good luck for you guys !!

You also have to consider that once the file is approved they need to "squeeze you in" to a ceremony. For this you are competing with 2014-2015 applicants which has a much higher priority in face of CIC compared to 2011-2013 applicants (not fair I know, but it is what it is). So maybe beginning...

I have seen it allot in the forums that the husband gets RQ while the wife get easy breezy processing. This is also what happened in my case. I wonder if it is random or it's policy.... I guess we will never know.

I think the issue is that I am a 2012 applicant whereas your friend is a 2014 applicant. From some reason CIC is putting processing of 2011-2012 on the backburner while focusing on 2013-2014-2015 applicants. For 2011-2012 unfortunates even a pretest RQ is taking almost three years.

I did the test in October 2013 and sent an RQ a week later. As you can see I am still waiting. I am happy for your friend who was WAY more lucky than me. First come first serve a.k.a FIFO should be the correct policy.
