The unprofessional conduct of Immigration Canada continues to shock me on every level. Absolutely appalling, I only hope the person who should have received the MR is informed before CIC decides to close their application for failing to provide medical.

Sorry, I'm a native English speaker so I don't have any resources for improving your score. I guess just practice reading in English and perhaps some of the none native English applicants have some resources they can share.

Just re-take IELTS and get your score up to a 6 or higher, apparently there are online practice tests you can do? In my opinion IELTS isn't a fair test of language anyway, it's more about memory and problem solving although obviously a firm grasp of the English language is also required.

It doesn't hurt to hope. I'll be coming up on 19 months by March 6th and still no MR or anything, all we can get out of CIC is the standard BS reply they seem to send to everyone.
