    BC Driver's License While Visitor

Thanks for that!! We haven't been here six months yet, so at least we can still drive on our Australian licenses for a while. Plus I went to the states in August so my own six month clock restarted later, so I can drive us around while he's on implied status. It's really good news that he can...

Regular CIC website, you do it the same way as you do the actual application fee.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the odds are she won't be approved before February. 80% of the applications are taking 9 months to process at the moment, so you're looking at August of 2013 or perhaps earlier, but I wouldn't count on six months earlier.

I'm not actually certain about the travelling, but I think the problem would be in proving that you BOTH paid for the hotels and stayed there together. A lease, utility bills in both names, etc, proves that you both resided at the same address, but hotel receipts would only be paid for by one...

NEW HERE - need help! Want to apply for PR - US out of status

I don't understand why you're insisting on applying through the USA when it will be at least four months faster to go through Beijing, and you don't run the risk of not being able to attend your interview due to a 10 year ban.

The university thing isn't a huge problem. They mostly just want to make sure that you're not going to go on welfare, so including things like support from parents, savings, plans for a job after university, part time income, what kind of qualifications you have, etc, is all a good idea and will...

    About getting American visa

It's not necessary but if you've just gotten Canadian PR and don't have a job or anything fixing you to Canada, your odds of being rejected are much higher.

NEW HERE - need help! Want to apply for PR - US out of status

I would apply through China. The processing time is only 8 months for Beijing compared to 12 months for the American visa offices. Not to mention there's a good chance that no matter what visa office you choose CIC will choose to send your application to be processed in China as that is your...

Hahah! I went through the entire Australian permanent residency process (two and a half years and almost $3000!) and then like two months later we decided to move to Canada and are doing it all over again.

No, not at the moment. He's from a visa exempt country, so only the stamp in the passport. When his visa extension comes through (hopefully!) will that be considered a visitor permit? Thanks for the help! :D

    BC Driver's License While Visitor

Hello everyone! My husband is applying for PR and we're currently here in Canada with him on a tourist visa. However, visitors to BC can only drive for 6 months. Does anyone know if he can get a BC Driver's license if he's still on a visitor's visa and hasn't actually moved to BC yet? Thanks!

I'm living in Canada at the moment with my husband. He's on a tourist visa now, we've applied for an extension for him. We're basically hoping the interview gets waived haha. It was due to speed and the ability to travel outside of Canada during the process that made us choose the outland route.
