Read the LMO and if it has your name on it then you're ready to proceed with work permit application, online (faster) or by snail mail. If your LMO is unnamed its called Open LMO and your employer has to submit it with your name on it and wait for it , it takes weeks.

Really? Well that makes it harder , so I guess the OP has no choice but to change his/her status to visitor unless he/she has LMO to extend work permit.

If your application is inland and you submit an open work permit with your application then you will be on implied status. If your application is outland then you have to apply and change your work permit to a visitor visa, you can do this online.

If I were in your situation I would call the call center and visit my local CIC office and ask them what to do. I think things will be in your favor since you already have AIP.
