***APRIL 2017***SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP OUTSIDE OF CANADA

Another Buffalo spouse here (not originally from there, but lived there for the past number of years while I was dating my now-husband.) Ottawa is the correct office. : )

***APRIL 2017***SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP OUTSIDE OF CANADA

Because my husband is self-employed and has not filed his 2016 taxes yet (it's a time-consuming endeavor) and I did not want to wait multiple weeks to submit my application when I've already faced multiple months of delays. I should be fine since I submitted an explanation letter this time...

***APRIL 2017***SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP OUTSIDE OF CANADA

Third time's the charm, right? Just mailed in my application again this morning, will be received tomorrow. Included a letter of explanation with our 2015 NoA explaining it's the most recent one we have available, included the Use of a Representative form since we put my mailing address in...

***APRIL 2017***SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP OUTSIDE OF CANADA

With all due respect, I really don't think these things were easy to avoid. You might know about these things from reading this forum (which I do too, but only after submitting my application) but neither item is addressed in any of the checklists or guides. Obviously I know now how to fix both...

    Passport Issue

Shareview is correct. If you include an expired passport or no passport at all, your application will be returned. As of 2017, IRCC is now returning all applications that are missing anything. You will need to wait to apply until she gets her new passport.

No, they will not return your application if you have received your AOR.

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

It seems to be incredibly arbitrary and unfair. Who knows - maybe they would have let it slip by if that was the only issue with my application. But, I was "missing" that Use of a Representative form as well.

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

At least this second time, I truly did the same. I followed the checklist and everything to a T and went over everything a thousand times. It was extremely organized. Neither of the reasons my application was returned are things that are covered on the checklist. : ( There was no way for me to...

***APRIL 2017***SPOUSAL SPONSORSHIP OUTSIDE OF CANADA

Reposting this from the March thread just in case my return reasons are helpful to anyone: -- Well friends, looks like I'll be joining the April thread. My application has now been returned twice. I really, truly, feel like an idiot. Why is it that so many people get this right and I keep...

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

Well friends, looks like I'll be joining the April thread. My application has now been returned twice. I really, truly, feel like an idiot. Why is it that so many people get this right and I keep messing up? There were two reasons noted: 1) We only included the 2015 NoA, not 2016 2) We listed...

    Overstay and travel .. help!

If it were me, I would not take the risk. Ultimately it is up to you. You need to weigh the benefits of traveling versus the potential risk of being denied entry. A four year overstay is significant.

Side jobs / Odd jobs with TRV?

I've been working remotely for my US employer while "visiting" Canada (really living here) waiting for my app to process. It's been great! So nice to not have to rely on a single source of income.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Are you an American citizen? If so, this is called a visitor record. Americans do not need/are not eligible for TRVs. Just FYI :)

    MARCH 2017 *OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANT*

I just called IRCC inquiring about my application and was told they are currently sending out AORs for applications received on March 27th. Obviously this isn't accurate since 29th and 30th people are receiving theirs in the spreadsheet.

    AOR not received

Sorry to hear that. I know it's upsetting, but it happens more often than you think. My application was returned in January and I'm actually anticipating it being returned again this second time I've submitted it. It's really discouraging but just make sure you are really thorough this time.

    AOR not received

Did you mail your application from within Canada? Keep in mind that if they return the application to you, it can take a couple of weeks to arrive after they send it, thanks to the unreliability of Canada Post - and if they're mailing it back to you outside Canada, it could take even longer.
