There's nothing to try since March 2014. It was before EE, you could apply to FSW or CEC right away if you qualified. If not, then there was nothing you could try but wait to complete your year of experience.

You worked while physically here and, more importantly, paid taxes to CRA. It wont be considered foreign experience, but not sure if it can be considered valid Canadian experience either (for CEC).
