Possible Oddity On Visitor Record (Question)

Are you in Alberta? If so, you can apply for Alberta Health Care (AHC) if you are in Alberta/Canada legally. My Japanese wife got AHC with just her visitor record (permit). Her AHC expires when her visitor record expires (it's written on her AHC card). My wife's visitor record does not have a...

    Flag-polling : Landing

Hmm, that's what I thought about "landing" at a CIC office. I think Alberta will probably have the same wait time or longer.

    Flag-polling : Landing

I thought that might be the case with "landing" at a CIC office. I have a feeling that the wait time in Edmonton, or anyplace in Alberta, might be months. The wife and I might go back to Japan this spring for hanami (cherry blossoms are in bloom). It's my favorite time of the year in Japan.

    Flag-polling : Landing

Thanks! I'm glad that we can finally relax. However, I'm still bitter about the whole experience. According to my wife's GCMS notes, CIC apparently lost documents I sent to prove my intent to re-establish in Canada. Sending them again added three months to our wait time.

    Flag-polling : Landing

Hello. My wife received her Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR/IMM 5688) today. We applied outland in October 2012, but have been in Canada since December 2013 (wife is visa exempt). I just want some clarification on some points that I'm not clear about. 1) What is the validity of the...

Call centre agent doesn't know what AOR is.lol

I'm not surprised. However, the service sector has been going down hill for years. Companies and governments do not put much into training as they used to.

A Mess, A Police Certificate and an involved MP

I know how you feel. My Japanese wife and I moved back to Canada in December 2013 as we could no longer afford live in Japan (wife quit her job as we THOUGHT she would have received her PR within 12 months). We are still waiting (applied October 2012). I got a request from Manila in May 2013...

Cannot Gain Common Law Status With Mexican Girlfriend

If you are sure, go ahead. Just remember that your girlfriend cannot work, study or do anything of the sort on a visitor's visa. If she does, and if she if caught by CBSA or CIC, she will lose her status and will be deported and band from Canada. Do you think you can support your girlfriend for...

Cannot Gain Common Law Status With Mexican Girlfriend

I think Rob was only trying to point out the obvious. Rob was not making you sound like an idiot. In fact, Rob has provided me, and others, invaluable information on this forum. File for an extension of your girlfriend's visa the next time she comes to visit and repeat. Simple.

Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

The people working in the registries have no clue what they are doing. Before I went to AAA (Alberta Automobile Association), i called ANC. I wanted to double check that my wife could receive Alberta Health with only her 1) Passport 2) One year visitor visa (permit), which her received when we...

Immigration Applications are not Processed in the Order that they are Received

I agree with the re-med. There is no consistency in how, or why, a VO asks one person for a re-med and doesn't ask another person for one. Very pathetic. I hope that her PR comes this month, but I don't think it will. I met a Canadian on this forum going through the same song and dance with CEM...

Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

s and s, I paid all the fees upfront. I know, and feel, your frustrations. Someone else on this forum was requested to send another Appendix A. I don't know why as EVERYONE has to send an Appendix A when they apply. Did you get a reply from CEM?

Immigration Applications are not Processed in the Order that they are Received

What is a red flag? My Japanese wife and I have been married for almost five years (married in May 2009). We've been together for eight. My wife is seven years older than I am. Is this a red flag? Even though we have been together for eight years? We didn't have a wedding ceremony due to 1)...

Immigration Applications are not Processed in the Order that they are Received

Yes, I ordered them. I should be getting them soon (around Feb. 11). My wife's application started to be processed in November 2013, according to ECAS. Why was her application sitting for almost a year? Another tidbit that came to my attention occurred about three weeks ago. I went to Vermilion...

Immigration Applications are not Processed in the Order that they are Received

I disagree. My wife is still waiting for her COPR. There are people on this forum who applied and received their COPRs in 2013. We applied in 2012.
