    More Landing Advice

Thanks Rob. In addition to the wife landing and getting her PR, I have a lot on my plate. I really don't have anyone, except this forum, to talk/chat with to get advice. I also thought that the wife wouldn't get a visitors record, but the she was given one when we landed. I can't wait until...

    More Landing Advice

Hello. The more I think about what the wife and I should do, the more I get confused. As mentioned previously, the wife and I plan on going back to Japan in May. We need to do this before I start work in Canada. In addition, I need to close my Japanese bank accounts and cancel my Japanese...

    Landing Advice

I agree with getting the PR asap. I just wanted to know if people had any issues traveling without it. Unfortunately, the wife and I will only be in Japan for two weeks. I don't think her card will arrive at my parents' home after "landing" on April 15 (leaving for Japan on May 12). What is the...

    Landing Advice

Traveling to the border from Edmonton by car in winter can be an unpleasant experience. Plus, we still haven't purchased said car yet. The last few months have been quite hectic. It seemed better, and more convenient, to land at a CIC Center.

    Landing Advice

Thanks. I was more upset at the lack of information and communication than anything else. Well, except when Manila lost the documents I originally sent to prove I was moving back to Canada. Resending the docs added three months. When I look back now and see the problems others are having with...

    Landing Advice

Hello. I need some advice on how to proceed with my wife's landing. Background Information: My wife and I applied for her PR (outland) in December 2012. However, we moved back to Canada to wait out the process in December 2013. My wife received her COPR on February 10, 2014. I made an...

    Canadian Citizen going home

Yes, you can stay in the States until the application is finished. However, as someone else mentioned, you MUST show / provide documents (proof) that the sponsor (you) will return to Canada after your husband's Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) is issued. Personal anecdote: I'm a...

Is there a limit to additional documents you can send the VO?

You should have waited to send the application after you had all the required documents and made sure you included all information about your husband (denied work visa). I guess you could send the what you forgot to send with the medicals.

Is there a limit to additional documents you can send the VO?

Did you rush to send your application? My wife and I only sent her application after scrutinizing it for about a month. That being said, I think you should wait until the VO contacts you if they need / require any documents. Also, it's the quality of the information / proof you choose to send...

HELP PLZ! GAVE WRONG INFO TO IMMIGRATION!

Why would you think that anyone on this forum would be racist or discriminatory about your husband's ethnicity? Personal anecdote: My Japanese wife and I arrived in Canada in December 2013. My wife had not received her COPR before we came to Canada. At secondary inspection, I explained the...

re- spouse sponsorship manila visa office

Posted process times for Manila is 14 months. 80% of applications are completed within this time period. Some applicants get their COPRs sooner, some applicants (bottom 20%) get their COPRs after 14 months. There is nothing you can do to speed this process up.

HELP PLZ! GAVE WRONG INFO TO IMMIGRATION!

There has to be more to your story. Your explanation of what happened to you at the airport sounds suspicious.

Roll call: How many have their passports with the Canadian Embassy in Manila?

I think not. There is a reason why applicants from the Philippines, India, Pakistan, China et al are scrutinized more than applicants from visa exempt countries. The majority of fraudulent immigration cases come from many of the previously mentioned countries. I'm not saying that all cases from...

Roll call: How many have their passports with the Canadian Embassy in Manila?

Once, or if, they ask you to do a re-med, you will be close to getting your COPR. You never know, maybe the VO has already extended your meds. Use the email address you received when you applied for you GCMS notes. Tell them that a month has passed, but you still do not have them.

Roll call: How many have their passports with the Canadian Embassy in Manila?

Chances are that you will be asked to do a re-med. According to my wife's GCMS notes, one of the VOs looking at my wife's file asked for an extension of her meds. There was no response, so my wife ended up getting them done again.

14th month Manila based application, anybody on the same timeline- nov 2012 appl

Yes, I did. However, I got no response to my inquiry for a status update. They did reply to me after I informed them of our change of address. Contact your MP to do a MP request. Manila always responded to my MP's inquiry.

Sponsoring Japanese citizen through the Manila office - please share!

Your wife will not get a passport request as she is from Japan, a visa-exempt country. From experience, expect to wait awhile.
