Totally agree lol. My family's experience with F1 visa was much easier. Filled the DS160, scheduled an interview appointment, was only asked where the student will be studying. Other family members got B1/B2 visas approved as well. Didn't even have to show proof of funds or SoP or travel itinerary.

Along with other doubts like your proof of funds, that certainly is the biggest issue. You demonstrated an intent to immigrate to Canada but was unsuccessful. Hence -- the officer thinks you're going to immigrate to Canada with a student visa. Only way to resolve this is to write a strong SoP...

That's a bit early but I doubt it will cause a problem. Your study permit will be issued at the initial PoE because that's where you will go through immigration and the initial 3 day hotel quarantine (if it still exists by then). Your domestic flight to montreal will not have any immigration...

Indonesia. Last time I checked, we had a 95% approval rate for study permits. Agents here don't typically ask students to write an SoP too.

yeah -- I'm aware of the person you're talking about. It definitely does not always 100% leads to refusal, but we have seen most cases go like that in the past.
