Unable to apply as Passport is about to expire

I am a 17 year-old student from India who wants to apply for a study permit to study at the University of British Columbia in Canada. However, as I turn 18 soon, my passport is about to expire in a few days and I am unable to get it renewed due to the lockdown imposed in Delhi. As a result, I will not be able to meet the 15th may deadline that has been announced guaranteeing a final decision before 6th August. Is there any other way I can apply for the study permit as soon as possible and have a high chance of getting a final decision before fall studies begin. I would appreciate it if you could advise me on this matter urgently.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

There is nothing stopping you from applying. Whether you get a decision before September, you will not know until August. You can always defer.

If you're really desperate to get that May 15 deadline, you can submit an application with your nearly expired passport. After renewing it -- you can upload a scanned copy and an explanation through the webform. Definitely don't recommend this though.

Thank you for your suggestion. I figure there is no point in meeting the deadline if the application will be invalid only, right? I will just try to get it renewed as soon as possible and apply then.
