It took 2 weeks to get to us in Toronto (Nov. 9 - 23). They send it from Edmonton, so the farther you are, the longer it will take, especially considering that Canada Post has been on rotating strikes around the country.

I logged in that day it was approved. A follow-up email was sent out several days later noting a change to the account. The OWP is valid for 2 years from the day it was approved.

OWP approved November 9th! August 7 app here. As another commenter posted, keep checking your GCKEY account as no emails came through about the work permit at all.

Looks like a bunch of August applicants got medical requests today. Odd that they came before the OWP.

I'm a CUPE member and when our local CUPE went on strike, everyone who was a union member was on strike everyday until the contract was ratified and voted on. I think the alternate day approach depends on your local CUPE and how essential your service is.

Just a heads up that it is my understanding that this was recently removed as a requirement. They do not need to be notarized anymore. We applied as common-law and our application is in process - none of our letters were notarized.

The number is 1-888-242-2100, then when they start speaking English again after the French prompt, press 2, 1, then 0. Sometimes it's busy and will tell you that they cannot transfer you at this time. They open at 8am EST, which is a good time to try.

Sorry to hear :( The same thing happened to us, but the good news was that they sent it back via Canada Post priority mail and it was in our mailbox the next day.

Yep - I tried calling around 8:15am EST (Toronto). I don't need to call them anymore though because we did receive the AOR email.

Odd, when I called earlier, I got the message that they wouldn't transfer me to an agent because the wait times were too long.

I just found out that the applicant (I'm the sponsor) in our case received the AOR email. Weird.
