Lucky. I think the background checks for the rest of us that are being processed in Montreal are still stick at "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check."
I've seen complaints about the application processing speed of the Montreal office in other forums. It seems some lucky August/September apps that are being processed through the Winnipeg office are way ahead of us. We're still well within the 12 months timeframe though, so I'm not concerned...
Heads up - I think most of us who submitted in August are being processed through the Montreal office, which seems to be MUCH slower in processing applications for some reason. There are lots of complaints on other threads complaining about the Montreal office. I'm not sure there's much we can...
Do you know what office is processing your application? It should say at the bottom of the PDF in your email correspondence from CIC, such as when you received sponsor approval. It seems that most of August is Montreal office and are behind the pack of July and September.
It's different for every application and unfortunately, there's no set timeline for any of the steps. It seems that some people have received it at around 6 months, others after 12 months.
SA, AIP and DM on applicant side can all come in different orders, it depends on the officer it seems. There is no PPR for inland applications, you have to be present for a landing interview with your passport instead.
Approved in Principle. It's a letter issued over email that the applicant's application has been approved (but no decision has been made), and is subject to the outcome of the medical exam, background, and any other details they require.
Thanks! It seems your timeline might be a bit different to the rest of us. Many of August apps background checks still say "not applicable" or the status just changed to app in progress and we'll be notified when our bgc begins.
Looks like ours is Montreal as well.
Officer J**4432 Innovation Hub Montreal. (I censored out the characters so that the officer isn't identifiable through an online search). The missing characters are C and 0.
Yes. Here's what ours says:
Application status
We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.
Make sure you read your messages and take action when we ask you to. This will help move the application process along.
If you have an eTA, valid visitor visa (if you are from a visa required country) and your OWP, you should be OK, but you would be taking a risk by leaving the country.
