    1. Ask for 6 months if that's what you need. 2. I usually say don't send anything they don't ask for ;), but in your case, proof of funds isn't a bad Idea. And I still think you should try your luck with an IM 5710 & a letter of explanation. Keep us posted, & have that beer for me : 8)

    I suggest you contact CIC for "grassroots" information: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-permit.asp Some workers/jobs may be LMIA exempt. The hiring process bears no resemblance to that described by the person you consulted.
