    American to Canada Immigration

You're correct that the employer needs to apply for the LMO (Labour Market Opinion). Sorry if the wording made it unclear. If you get a job offer then the employer needs to apply for an LMO. If a positive one is received you can apply for your work permit. Hope that helps. You're welcome...

    American to Canada Immigration

I was in a similar situation a few years ago, an American in a relationship with a Canadian. Had we known what I know now, we could have gotten married (which was always the plan) and I could have gotten an open work permit at some point. Long story short, things did not work out. However, I...

job ad for lmo - where to post????

It MUST be posted on Job Bank for 14 days. Some also require advertising somewhere else in addition to Job Bank. Make sure your employer follows the advertising requirements or the LMO will surely be denied.

Can I replace a job with LMO visa?

Yes, as a temporary worker in Canada you can get another job. BUT, the same conditions apply. You will need to first get a job offer and then need a positive LMO.

    LMO processing Time - Alberta

Congratulations! I don't think using an agent makes any difference. If it did, we would all do it. (or at least more of us) Maybe occupations with a labour shortage are processed more quickly. Or you just got really lucky. Or things are speeding up. Who knows? haha If things ARE...

    Work permit transfer

Some LMO's get approved. Some get denied. Mine was denied the first time but we are trying again after remedying the minor problem. I just read of someone else that was denied. They reapplied and then it was approved. Some are approved on the first try. Hopefully it will work out for you...

    Work permit transfer

The new employer needs to obtain a positive LMO before you can get a new work permit. 1. As long as your current work permit is still valid, yes you can continue to work. 2. You can only have one work permit at a time, so once the new one has been obtained you would be unable to work for your...

LMO - contract length, job title

To find the prevailing wage for the LMO (which must match the wage in the ad for Job Bank) go here: http://www.workingincanada.gc.ca/content_pieces-eng.do?cid=1 It's important that the employer does not put LESS than the prevailing wage. The LMO will be denied if they do that. Hopeully...

    LMO processing Time - Alberta

I am not aware of a way that the employee can call Service Canada. I would think you need the file number to be able to get any information and only the employer would have that. I would be wary of an employer that isn't interested in finding out what is going on. They may truly not know what...

Job offer obtained, please help how to proceed...

The employer needs to apply for an LMO. If your friend's employer is unfamiliar with the process, have him send the employer this link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/publications/tfw-guide.asp The process is currently taking anywhere from 6 - 17 weeks. He would then have to apply...

    LMO processing Time - Alberta

can3x8, There isn't actually an expedited option. But sending a cover letter stating that the issue for denial the first time has been remedied might help. Service Canada told my employer that the application *may* be looked at sooner if a letter of explanation is submitted. Good luck to you!

    LMO processing Time - Alberta

Actually, I just went and read your older posts so I see why it was denied the first time. My employer also did not have my name on it the first time but will do so this time. I see though, that there is no advantage to this. Hopefully it will work out this time!! Again, congratulations to...
