I agree but almost anything could be said to not really prove anything. I provided lease and mortgage document with my spouse’s name on them but she could easily have moved out and we just not taken her off the paperwork.

I can’t find it not but I thought there was someone who reported having applied for PRTD while in Canada and getting it before they left. It may have been a special situation though. ETA - Here is one of the posts I was thinking about where the PRTD was applied for from within Canada.

It sounds as though you have not received the replacement PR card, so “Apply for a PRTD because I do not have a valid PR card.”.

I have driven across the border many times with just a passport; you shouldn’t have any issues.

I applied and interviewed for jobs prior to physically landing, including the job I ultimately took, although they wanted a second in-person interview before decision was made. Hopefully you will not have to start completely from scratch.

Why not just move to Canada instead of trying to find a way to maintain a status that isn’t being used? Canada isn’t for everyone but if you went through the process of getting PR it makes sense to then use it.

Were you compliant with residency obligation, or were there any potential Ted flags in your application? Mine took 14 days from submission to request for passport, and I was accompanying a Canadian citizen overseas. Regarding calling IRCC, using the Fongo app works.

My comment was based on anecdotal evidence from postings here regarding some differences with processing of PRTD vs. PR card. I agree that the obligation should be applied consistently.

I would guess that online should be faster with not having to mail, have mailing sorted and entered into a system, and whatnot… but it is hard to say for sure. I applied on 6/13, linked my application on 6/20 in GCKey, and all it says is that it is under review.
