Thank you so much for creating this thread. I have a question - Do I need to add my wife as co-signer? Me and My wife are on PR, our daughter is born outside Canada. My wife got PR through me.

I was reading this guide for co-signer - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/permanent-residence/non-economic-classes/family-class-assessing-sponsor.html#cosigners

As per this:

Use of a co-signer is applicable to applications to sponsor the following family members:

  • parents and grandparents
  • dependent children, in cases where their dependent child (i.e. a grandchild) is included on the application as an accompanying dependant
  • “other relatives” [R117(1)(h)]
Also it says that adding a co-signer where Income requirement is fulfilled by primary sponsor can delay the process:

In cases with a co-signer where the sponsor’s income alone is sufficient to meet MNI and there is the possibility that processing may need to be suspended in order to investigate the co-signer’s eligibility, an officer should contact the sponsor and recommend that the co-signer withdraw to prevent unnecessary delays. This will prevent unnecessary delays and the possibility of a negative sponsorship eligibility decision.
Can anyone please help. TIA.

So you and your wife stay in Canada now?
I am in Canada and my wife and daughter are in India. My wife is PR and we need to sponsor our daughter.

I am new here and trying to find a job. Hoping to start the process after I land a job.

At this point it is difficult to tell whether the Immigration officer will ask you to submit the photos or reject the application for being incomplete.

The best thing you can do is (and this is just my opinion), once you get the Acknowledge of Receipt email, it will have the Application number. (Acknowledgement of receipt means that the Sydney office has received your application and it is formally in the queue for being processed).

Use that application number to link your sponsorship application to online IRCC account.
  • first create an account on IRCC on your child's name (the child being sponsored aka the principal applicant).
  • during the linking of application, you will be asked to enter the number of applicants included in the application. (This includes; the principal applicant, and the sponsor(you), and if there is a co-signer count him/her as well) - at minimum there will be 2 applicants (the principal applicant and sponsor).
Once linked, all the messages from IRCC will be sent to the online application. This way, if the immigration officer feels that something is missing from the application, they will send you a message on your online account and my guess is that you will be able to upload the requested documents online rather than mailing it to them.

Hope this helps and that the immigration officer won't be harsh for this minor discrepancy in your application.

Hi All,

Can I add Remitly bank transfer receipts as a proof of financial support. I am applying for my daughter but my daughter does not have any bank account, so I was sending money to my mother account. My mother name and address is on the receipts, the address is same as my daughter passport. aadhar card and birth certificate. Can this work?

Think you misunderstood what is meant by financial support. You must show that you have the funds to care for your family without government support not show that you are sending money abroad to support your family. Your bank statements, investments, proof of employment/salary, etc. is what IRCC wants to see.
