No one can leave that easily. Once you leave the testing, about every 10 meters is a person who will ask to see the quarantine test sticker on the back of your passport. We saw 5 people btwn the test site and the train to the hotel. No, all the hotels have different costs. When you call, they can tell you the costs of several, they do not want you to go through the whole list though.

Nice but we connecting flight travellers have no choice other than booking the accommodation through the line.
Can't risk getting stranded over a 900$ hotel reservation. Guess the hotels not being on the list will be minimum speculatively ranging from 800 to 2000$ for 3 days in the future for even those who didn't manage to book it before boarding.

Pretty sure some airlines will pass on rules in the future regarding boarding without a reservation though. Maybe since you are travelling from the US it's not that of a big deal.

Tomorrow few of my friends are going to travel to toronto without booking their hotels. Lets see what happens.... I hope they come up with some alternative because not everyone can be accomodated in these hotels and the numbers are quite high as compared to whats available right now.

Hey could they board the flight without the reservation?? and if they could, please could you let me know the procedures and what steps they had to take next on arrival. It would be really grateful as I myself have a flight on Feb 28 and really worried about it, I do have my 14 quarantine plan also including the necessary documents LOA, travel support letter, M.insurance etc.

I think these are the designated quarantine centres by the government which are free of cost but not very good ones. It's paid for by government of Canada for the previous 14 day quarantine if you did not have any place for quarantine.

Infact if anyone does not have a quarantine plan after the 3 days quarantine, you will be taken to one of these hotels which will be free of cost but expect surprises.

** UPDATES **

Arrived last night, Feb 22 at 8:30pm. Toronto. The airport was empty. About 35 people on my flight in from Chicago.
In Chicago, United Airlines did a poll of who had booked a room, only about half had. They announced that if you had not booked a room, Public Health will help you. Apparently the lines on Sunday were upwards to 8 hours long to get tested and to clear customs. There was no one in line for testing, we were in and out in 10 mins. You are given a box with a test that you take at the end of the 14 day and you will do a virtual call with a nurse that will watch you take your test.

They let us walk through the airport to the train. The first car of the train is reversed for International travelers only, crew are there to make sure you get on in the right car. The hotel cost at the Sheraton Gateway is $525 per night for family of 3, includes $125 food credit, per day, per person. We were told it's likely we will not stay 3 days, the test results are coming back much faster because no one traveled. We asked the Public Health folks how long the line was to book hotel rooms and they said hours long and they were taken to another hotel, not the ones listed.

The Sheraton allows you to order room service, food is good. The $125 a day covers reasonable meals and includes the delivery fee, taxes etc.
They also allow you to have two 15 minute outside visits to get fresh air that you have to book with the front desk. Only issue is they don't answer the front desk, you have to keep calling because they are overwhelmed. When you do get through, they have you book both visits, so today I have 4:45-5pm and 10:00-10:15pm. Pretty amazing, it's not bad at all.

I called MakeMyTrip and they're asking not to take connecting flights and asked me to wait till Feb 28 to make reservations for April (as new regulations would come after this date). If urgent only take direct flights to Canada.

Airlines might confirm you can board but you might face problems at connecting locations. As that happened with a few people in the same flight as @jigzyy while they went via Dubai.

Some more first-hand experience in a Facebook group

"Hello everyone! Today I arrived at the Pearson airport and writing this from the hotel.
Landed in Toronto 8:30 AM. They took us to the lounge where they were checking for the hotel booking for quarantine, sending the people with booking ahead for the next process and asking the one’s without booking, to book the hotel room for quarantine at the lounge.
Next process was for the checking of the hotel
booking again, along with the declaration form and ArriveCan information. Then, I was send to the immigration line. At the counter, the officer asked the basic questions, the purpose of travel to Canada and they check the documents.
Then, we were send to collect the luggage and were directed then to take the Covid test. They will ask you to register on a health website by scanning a bar code. After the test is done, you will then be directed to the respective transport to the hotel.
Everything went smoothly and without any hassle. At the hotel, just the basic info and credit card information was asked.
I asked about the refund policy if results comes early, they told me that I will be refunded the money for the stay at the room and not for the food. This is the information for ‘Alt Hotel’ and can vary from other hotels.

Another clarity I got from this guy is that Covid tests at the airport are either included in this cost or for free because he wasn't charged for any of it.

My college is providing the rest 11 days od self-isolaton plan free but i have to register to that before i board or esle i will not be allowed to do so. But the problem is the college will not let me book the plan until i have booked the 3 day hotel. what to do, really stressed.

Keep trying you will get through eventually. Don't hangup if you stop hearing the music. Meanwhile try to make the university understand how difficult it is to get through. Let them know that even if you are not booked, they will either let you book at the airport or take you to a designated quarantine facility. Either way you can take the university quarantine on the booked date.

but the problem is the college plan wants to know my hotel booking prior to the plan registration.
