Is anyone trying for TRV this fall ? A lawyer told me TRV is not likely to work during this COVID time, and she didn't expect that to change soon.
My wife is from Bangladesh. I had consulted the lawyer in January, and the tips she gave me for TRV were to "show as much money as possible". How would that work ? I don't have a huge amount, would documents from my parents (or her parents) help to show proof of sufficient funds ? How much is travel history a factor ?
Also she told me that we could use the fact that we did an outland application as an argument for letting her in, that she would have to go back to Bangladesh to pick up the visa. I'm not sure how that works. Could she come here on a TRV and then "flagpole" if she gets approval for sponsorship while she's here ? "Flagpoling" works even without authorization to travel to the USA ?
She is doing a fellowship (job + studies) which will end in December. So I encouraged her to get "No Objection Certificate" (basically a letter from the employer or university) before she finishes the fellowship. So I had the idea of applying for TRV while she was still employed. Actually my tactic was to apply for travel in October, even though she would only come in January, because she wants to finish her fellowship. All we would need is her employer to be on board with this tactic. She wasn't very optimistic about even getting the letter from her employer, because they wouldn't want to approve her travel, even if it was actually for January.
My plan was to join her in Bangladesh in January if her TRV application was denied. Sorry for the long post !
