Alright, I will keep trying to get them then. I've spent over $100 on passport photos so far only to have all of them cut the wrong size and not signed correctly. US passport photos are a different size, so, it's been really difficult to get correctly sized Canadian ones. I think I'll take my own photo and send to one of those mail order places because the only passport photo places left open around here are CVS and Walgreens and neither can get it right even though they specify that they take the Canadian version as well. Not to mention, I'm in Florida, so literally risking Covid every time since we have rampant infection.
You need to review the photo guidelines. The photos must be taken by a commercial photographer. You can’t take your own photo.

Reputable photographer should be able to take the photos within the guidelines. You can always send the photo requirements to a photographer to see if they can meet the requirements before booking an appointment.

Be aware that sending the wrong size photos will just mean that it will be asked for again with the correct guidelines. This happened to friends of mine who did the express entry route.

Hi,
I'm an international student here. My study is going to finish soon. I have a query regarding spouse sponsorship in Canada. Currently I'm on study permit, if I get married here with a person who is on 3 year work permit and already applied for Permanent Residence. Can my spouse sponsor me? Will my status change after I get married? How long it will take to get me same status as my spouse if she gets PR here? Because I will get only 1 year work permit after my study.

Thank You.

Hi all members,
I have a question regarding expiring passport of my daughter in May next year . Her pr application was already approved before 18th March 2020 with my wife as a principal applicant ...
What if I renew her passport right now as she has not yet travelled to Canada becoz her current visa and COPR has expired .....will it make any difference ..
What steps do I need to take to inform IRCC about the new passport for her as COPR and visa are issued basis the valid passport ...The reason of renewing the passport now is becoz of the rule that any visa can only be issued on the passport with the validity of 6 months left...
.In the situation if I decide to bring them over next year.... as I am yet to submit a web form to confirm travel of my family to IRCC
Can anyone of please throw some light on this situation ...
Thanks

My guess is your spouse cannot sponsor you until they have PR:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/family-sponsorship/spouse-partner-children/eligibility.html

In the meantime, I read / understand you could apply as a dependent of someone on a work permit, as until the PR decision is made (and may take quite a long time, especially with COVID), my understanding is that current status (i.e. work permit)is implied (someone correct me if I am wrong. Can't find s link, though.)

Indeed, here it says that spouses of people who have applied for PR can generally apply for an open work permit or you might consider a post grad open work permit:

my husband lives in Canada, I am in Ukraine, we had applied papers about sponsorship in Febuary 2020 and we have known nothing till now. It is very hard for people who love each other. When will you work?

This is not IRCC’s website this is just a thread where we can communicate with others who are in same boat.

To my understanding, there are some steps you might take on your own to check the status.

First are the "GCMS" Notes that can be obtained from official sources. This is the Global Case Management System used by IRCC to process applications. It contains detailed records of the application's processing.

You can probably find more information about GCMS by searching this forum or by Google for these.

Form IMM 5563 must be filed (with small fee) to obtain these notes. See this link:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/transparency/access-information-privacy/forms/request-5563.html

But first you must authorize IRCC to release personal information to a "Designated Individual", note that this person is NOT a Representative. See the Checklist IMM 5533 for more information...in my case this is under Part A Item 12 "Authority to Release Personal Information to a Designated Individual". You must submit form IMM 5475 for the authorization. See this page for more information:
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigration-citizenship-representative/application-access.html

Your husband in Canada can submit this application and obtain information.

However, a point I am not certain about is if you have not received acknowledgement of your application (which must come with some identifying number) then how to obtain the GCMS without said number.

Further, I recommend you set up (if you haven't already) the IRCC Secure Account on their website. This allows you to follow and communicate electronically without postal mail. This log-in account can also be linked to your application; I have checked and there is some sort of "search" function to try to match your information with applications they have received by mail/post/etc. I have set up my IRCC Secure Account but have not yet mailed my application, but the Secure Account seems to be the way to go for easy communication. They say "Your account lets you start an application, submit and pay for your application, get messages related to your application, check the status of your application and update your information."
See this page: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account.html

I have a question for the TRV. In the first question form of the account, I mean the question form that is filled out before uploading the files. Do you put the option OTHERS also as in Imm 5257, put others on both sides?

Is anyone trying for TRV this fall ? A lawyer told me TRV is not likely to work during this COVID time, and she didn't expect that to change soon.

My wife is from Bangladesh. I had consulted the lawyer in January, and the tips she gave me for TRV were to "show as much money as possible". How would that work ? I don't have a huge amount, would documents from my parents (or her parents) help to show proof of sufficient funds ? How much is travel history a factor ?

Also she told me that we could use the fact that we did an outland application as an argument for letting her in, that she would have to go back to Bangladesh to pick up the visa. I'm not sure how that works. Could she come here on a TRV and then "flagpole" if she gets approval for sponsorship while she's here ? "Flagpoling" works even without authorization to travel to the USA ?

She is doing a fellowship (job + studies) which will end in December. So I encouraged her to get "No Objection Certificate" (basically a letter from the employer or university) before she finishes the fellowship. So I had the idea of applying for TRV while she was still employed. Actually my tactic was to apply for travel in October, even though she would only come in January, because she wants to finish her fellowship. All we would need is her employer to be on board with this tactic. She wasn't very optimistic about even getting the letter from her employer, because they wouldn't want to approve her travel, even if it was actually for January.

My plan was to join her in Bangladesh in January if her TRV application was denied. Sorry for the long post !
