Biometrics must be redone for a PR app.

I don't know about the receipt.

Follow the checklist.

Hello everyone. For the sponsor’s address, would it be okay if we don’t put a street name as we don’t have one? We only have a house # and a street #

I'm completing the Additional Family Form and assume I have to write all of my brothers and sisters names on the form as a sponsor. IS this really necessary even though they are Canadian born? :(

Hi I'm having a hard time with service Ontario. They aren't giving clear answers about the document my wife (IN PROCESS) needs to prove her eligibility. We got her a nova Scotia health card no problem with the receipt we received from the government for PR application.

We gave them a copy of the receipt and we showed them an email that addresses us both from our lawyer.

Service Ontario says they want something written. We don't even have any response from the government yet.

Here are the requirements for applying for OHIP (from: http://www.health.gov.on.ca/en/public/programs/ohip/ohipfaq_mn.aspx):

If you are applying for Ontario health insurance coverage as an Applicant for Permanent Residence, you are required to present written confirmation from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that you are eligible to apply for permanent residence in Canada, which may be one of the following :
  • CIC Confirmation Letter – letter on CIC letterhead addressed to the Applicant for Permanent Residence that confirms that the applicant is eligible to apply for permanent residency in Canada;
  • CIC Immigration document such as a Work Permit, Visitor Record, Temporary Resident Permit or Study Permit with note in the "Remarks Section" that indicates that you have applied for permanent residence and the CIC has confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
For Service Ontario it seems imperative that you have the document from CIC that states that you are eligible to apply for PR to be approved for OHIP. Just having the AOR (acknowledgement of receipt) is not enough--they have to confirm that you are eligible to apply, which I believe is the next step after receiving AOR and confirmation of the sponsor's eligibility.

Hope this helps and someone please correct me if I am understanding this incorrectly.

It is recommended to apply for a visitor extension as well because if the PR and/or OWP app is returned AFTER the current status expires, the person is then out of status in Canada and no longer qualifies for the OWP. They then have to try for Restoration of Status. This happens to quite a lot of people.

Also note that AOR is for the PR app and does NOT mean that the OWP app cannot still be returned.
At what point during my 6-month visitor status would you recommend applying for a visitor extension? I'm nearing 4 months in to my allowable 6. I am hoping that my OWP will be approved any time now (received 10/23/19), but you never know, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Thank you!

The sponsor doesn't fill out applicant forms.

You can wait until a couple days before expiry.
