SIN, you can go down to the Service Canada in St John's: http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/tbsc-fsco/sc-dsp.jsp?lang=eng&rc=1137 when you are there. You can get the permanent SIN when you have your COPR in hand...

OMG no I did not know.

Yup, US government shut down today, due to the shooting in Alexandria. Were they not supposed to vote on repealing ACA today? My money is on that guy disagreed with it's removal. That's what people like Trump just, don't, get. You're talking about massive changes to people's lives (for the worse, while you only aim to make those with money's better!), in a state where people have an unhealthy obsession with firearms...

Some foreign nationals do work for foreign governments intent on spying or disrupting. They spend much time and are good in tradecraft hiding Thier true identities. I can share a story where a whole family of Russian spies had set up shop for decades...

That said, it's easy to say 3-6 mos. We agree that is an acceptable time.

With world migration patterns, and the fact that CSIS rely heavily on international partners to help, lower priority cases (not to say that they really are..but the feds do have a driver to bring in more skilled workers) end up suffering WRT time.

The IVR says that they are processing applications received before 25 April 2017. However, some June'2016 applicants too seem to have received landing interviews. I dont think it is a simple FIFO styled processing. Many other factors seem to be a part of their (CIC) decision making.

My point there was, it may seem like out of the Bourne series of movies -- but very much Russia, China, and others have tried to penetrate Canadian society to gain secrets. In fact, Russia even mentioned to CBC, "Of course we do -- you didn't expect we would?" That was from the Russian Embassy, btw. Usually you don't believe it until they deny it officially -- this time they totally admit it openly...

That's why the security and BG checks can take a long time. And CSIS's peers are inundated with lots going on. It's hard to accept, but it's like trying to draw concrete from a straw. You can only pull so much through...

I totally agree with you. I was watching a town hall meeting in US where the Republican representing the state was being given hell by his constituents because he was siding with Trumpublicans on the changes ACA. Now that "Muricans are finally in the 21st century with regard to ACA they will fight not to have it removed.

Sad that this person who went too far felt so desperate.

Profiler, just to clarify, you mean after AIP?

Yes ma'am. That's where they are evaluated, along with Background, Criminality, and Medicals.

Medicals are submitted by the PA, so they are not usually a hold up (but the PA would know for sure they are).
Criminality, they take the PCC(s) and what the RCMP has delivered (from interpol, etc). Generally less than a week.
Background, they start once they have the paperwork. They also use BG to complete AIP (as they have to be able to verify the statements made, to decide if the PA is a member of the Family class or not).

that only leaves Security. This and Criminality are completed by outside organizations and partners. Considering Criminality is usually pretty quick, that can only leave security.

This has become common. The problem is, people start dying once they are born. Therefore, life itself, is a pre-existing condition.

Don't get me wrong.... ACA definitely had it's flaws... But until they can accept that their taxes will go up, and they will be (constantly) paying collectively for anyone else's condition(s), it never will be perfect. So, to Bait and Switch (B&S) them out of ANY healthcare is disgusting.

I watched a townhall where a lady showed a picture of her $3mil daughter... who has Leukemia. A man, from the crowd, lost his mind over it and ended up putting money in the rep's pocket and demanded that he take that and give it to the woman to help her kid.
