Dependent child application 2024 - Is the IRCC screwed up or just me?

Hey @armoured, I had called them and submitted a webform for 'Adding a Document'; to inform them of receiving PPR and my daughter being in Canada. I had also sent an email to the New Delhi office (from where I had received PPR). Do you know how much time should I wait before expecting a response?

I had called IRCC Canada again to check but they informed me that they cannot check this since its being processed in Delhi. No one is answering at the Delhi office. Other comments on this forum mention that they receive COPR and landing instructions usually within a day. Any suggestions on what I should do? Wait it out for a few days or any other action can be taken?

That timeline is fairly unusual

Unpredictable as far as I'm aware - but be warned that if I understand correctly, it's only been about ten days. Nothing out of ordinary takes less than 10 days at IRCC. You could be looking at months, hopefully less than 2 or 3, but I don't know.

Your situation is probably NOT like others who have received the COPR and landing instructions within a day (which - BTW - is not usually possible either, you must have misunderstood or somewhat misstated - but not the issue here anyway).

This is not to scare you, it might well come sooner - but your expectation that it'll happen in days is way off.

I think its delayed by just a couple of weeks. It took me 10 weeks from submission to medical notification. You are at around 12 weeks now. This delay might be due to the holiday season. I would wait for a week more and then give them a call to check.
I got mail on 9 jan about check this file in attachment when I see it is about pre arrival service

But till now request for medical of daughter
Do u also got this pre arrival mesg before medical. Does it have any significance or not

Thanks a lot for your responses @canuck78 and @armoured. I will wait it out :)

@Rahul61 I also received the pre-arrival but it was after the medical. I checked on other posts; the receipt of the pre-arrival mail is random and does not imply anything. I would suggest you wait for the medical letter from them.

A quick background:
I am a PR who previously sponsored my spouse who is also a PR now. We decided to deliver our child in India. The TRV for our newborn was rejected. As advised by forum members, I plan to submit a sponsorship application for my newborn once I am back in Canada, and am in the process of preparing the application. My spouse will continue to be based in India and plans to travel with our child to Canada once their PR is approved.

Questions:
  1. IMM 1344 - Application to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Undertaking:
    1. In the field for signature of sponsored person, do we need to mention the words ‘on behalf of < Name of Child>’ after typing the sponsor(parent) name, since the parent is signing on behalf of the minor child?
    2. Are there any recent instances of IRCC insisting on physical signatures despite the instructions in the form asking to type the name to electronically sign the application?
  2. IMM 5481 - Sponsorship evaluation form :
    1. I have been doing some freelancing work in India for which there is no business or company incorporated. In 2 (your current situation), should I tick self-employed or unemployed? Ticking self-employed asks for name of business and date of establishment, which I do not have. Ticking unemployed does not seem accurate either. Which one do I tick? Is ticking unemployed likely to have any detrimental effect on the application, considering I already have a previous undertaking?
    2. In 3 (Net personal income for 12 month period preceding the date of application), is it okay to mention income from all sources (including from investments, liquidation of assets, etc.) and irrespective of the country? Hope this is not restricted to income that’s earned in Canada only.
    3. In the box for 5(A), I am mentioning 1 as there is 1 child being sponsored in the current undertaking. Hope this is correct.
  3. Is it advisable to upload letters of explanation for NOT submitting the forms IMM 1283, IMM 5604 and for NOT having my spouse as a co-signer (since they will be outside Canada at the time of submitting the application), to ensure that the application is not returned or rejected by IRCC?
  4. Is IMM 5476 (Use of a Representative) required to be uploaded, to be able to access updates to the PR application after submitting?
  5. While browsing the IRCC portal, a tool in the portal mentioned to select ‘Type A dependant’ from a drop down in the Dependant Type box. I have not encountered this particular box or dropdown while creating or filling up the application, so I am a bit concerned that I may have missed some crucial step. Where exactly is this drop-down for dependant type?
  6. Those who have submitted the application, could you please share your stage-wise timelines for reference?
@armoured, @canuck78,@viraj.manek1, @Rahul61, @Pk1987, others - a big thank you for everything you've already shared in this thread (both questions and answers), it helped with so many other questions I had.
Would appreciate any responses you could please share on the above questions.

1- 1. Read the instructions. Just name of parent as far as I'm aware.
2. Unfortunately yes. Not as consistent as it should be. I'm not aware of any way to perfectly avoid this.

2-1. Tell the truth. Clearly you're self-employed in this case.
2. All income. Of course they will look at your taxes, on which you are declaring all of your global income, of course, right? As required?
3. It is advisable to read the instructions and do that.
4. Don't know.
5. Don't know.

Thank you for your prompt responses.

2. There is no intention to hide the truth. The concern is that the application should not be returned / rejected by IRCC for lack of details requested in the form for Self-Employment.

3. Perhaps I should have been clear. The forms I've mentioned here do not apply to my situation and therefore I do not intend to submit them. My question was whether it's advisable to submit letters of explanation upfront with the PR application for such forms, in the interest of avoiding such potential questions from the IRCC and any consequent delays in processing. Reason: The very first post in this thread mentions an instance of IRCC asking for a form to be submitted, which is not applicable to the particular case and one of the the suggestions is to submit a letter of explanation quoting the instructions in response to that.

@Others - Appreciate if you could please share if you have any inputs / suggestions on the above questions in my original post.

Point was simply that easier in all these cases to tell the truth. If there's some detail you don't have - if you think important - just explain. (Obviously if amount of work is tiny it may not matter_)

3. Perhaps I should have been clear. The forms I've mentioned here do not apply to my situation and therefore I do not intend to submit them.
For the 'permission from non-accompanying parent', I'd make clear somewhere that the mother will be accompanying back to Canada. Use your judgment for the others.
