Hello!
Congratulation on your citizenship!
I was in the same ceremony today in Edmonton, just got a question for you about the "Effective Date" on my certificate, it's 2024-12-30 while today's date is 2024-12-17, I'm just wondering if the effective date on your certificate is also 2024-12-30 ?!
It should be your oath date.

Mine have the date of yesterday on the certificate. You may have to check with them to correct that.

Hi @hssrp ,

How long does it take to get E-Certificate?

It's been 2 days and I still can't download certificate from the portal. I have sent the signed Oath form via email that is provided in the instruction. Vancouver office.

Thanks,

Anyone here that was requested for all pages of their passport later in the process? If so, did you travel outside Canada in the 5 year eligibility period? And how long after you submitted the scans did they start processing your application again?

@moonlightshadow @m0hammadi The "Notice to appear for interview" will have a title of what the interview will be about. Mine was to verify identity documents. Sometimes, it could be for other reasons too.

The officer I had the interview was really nice compared to what I read online & what I've heard from other people I know. I was asked to verify IDs, about my frequent travel to the US, about immediate family/family in Canada & how my absences were calculated. I was told the next step was to move the application to the next department and asked if I had any questions for her.

Prior to COVID, interview was a mandatory part of the process. Not sure how they pick applicants now. From personal experience, anyone who has had frequent travel outside of Canada maybe requested to appear for an interview. Hope this answers your question.
Thanks for the information.

One question:

When you are to return signed the consent form for citizenship interview, do you send them back the full document they send you (that is to say with 1 section included "notice to appear") or just print out the consent form portion apart, sign it and return it?

Sorry I know it might be a silly question... lol

Thank you

Hello! Applied with spouse, last update for both was Nov. 28th, with my LPP completed and only part pending but his still has the background check in progress. Has anyone else been in the same situation? I’m assuming my oath will only be scheduled when his stuff is ready, is that correct? I heard some people in other threads saying they separated spouses’ applications to be processed but I am not sure about the case here. Our office is Niagara Falls, which seems to be slow…

They take between 1-5 business days. Make sure the file size of the oath form is small/within limits.

Yes, your application will be on hold until your spouse completes his process and is ready to schedule the oath. The oath will be scheduled together.
