Got PR in 2019 but moved to Canada in 2024 from USA. My small child who is US citizen accompanied me.
Got 44(1) at the port of entry. And allowed to enter Canada.
Got Canadian drivers license and provincial Health insurance.
Joined a job here.
Submitted Child's sponsorship application after moving here.

Been here a few months now.
Received a call from a CBSA officer saying that my 44(1) report is at his desk. And that he is also aware about the sponsorship application that I have submitted.
He asked me why I have not applied for PR card renewal yet. I said that I was going to apply after completing my 2 years here.
He then suggested to apply on H&C grounds for PR card renewal now since my card is expired. And let IRCC decide. He then emphasized to apply that day itself for renewal without consulting lawyers. He said once I get my PR card I could travel in and out of Canada if needed.
Although I am not planning to travel out of Canada.
Based on his suggestion I started my online application.

Anyone else has dealt with something similar?

You need to ensure that your H&C grounds are solid!

What happened with the lawyer you mentioned in your post back in May?
