Now waiting for BLS status to get updated. We have opted for Pick up.

We have chosen pick up so will call BLS again to confirm and go for pick up. Timeline is pretty fast for me and my spouse.

You do not need to call since the BLS tracker shows ready for collection, Just go there between 3:00 - 4:30pm and queue up for collection
Carry the receipt and an ID with you for collection
Pro Tip: Queue up a little earlier than 3:00 as there maybe quiet a few people before you if you reach at 3:00 pm

Hello,

Can I know approximate processing times at the Vancouver office to get a Surrender certificate?
Meanwhile, should I book the OCI appointment as looks like availability is after one month. So if I wait for the surrender certificate, then it'll take another month to get the appointment. Any suggestions? Thanks

I applied at the Vancouver office on may 23 and yet no status change. Let's hope it is fast as other offices.

We went to pick today only. We reached 2:45 but there were lot of people already. Luckily got in to office at 4:20 and able to receive our cancelled passport along with surrender certificate. Thank you for your help.
Now OCI stage awaits!!

Can I use the same pics I used for my citizenship application if it was taken in Jan 2024. Also as far as the checklist I would need 1 physical photo for Surrender Certificate and 1 physical photo for OCI. Can any one confirm that 2 photos is the total count needed for Surrender and OCI?

The dimensions are not same for citizenship and SC + OCI photo.

I know I will have to get it in the 2* 2 dimension but is there a 6 month requirement similar to Passport? Also the total count is 2 for SC+ OCI right?

There is no date verification like citizenship. Depends on BLS agent. Some ask 2. I did it at BLS they kept one and gave second back which I used for OCI but some experience shared in the forum is they asking for 2.

Hello All, I will be submitting my family's passport surrender application at the BLS Mississauga office. I have three questions as below. Any advice would be much appreciated. TIA.
1. My passport has "City, State" in the place of birth field. In the online surrender application form, should I only mention city in the place of birth field? As there is a separate field for the state, should I not mention it in the place of birth?
2. For my children (8 years old), do they need to sign or provide a thumb impression?
3. For the child's supporting documents, do they need to sign/attest it or does a parent sign on their behalf?

At the Vancouver BLS, i was not given the option to pick up. Officer directly charged me for shipping. They said it would be delivered through Purolator. If anyone had it delivered through Purolator, did Purolator email or text message you that you should be expecting a delivery since passport and BLS site do not seem to update status in a timely manner? Thanks.

For OCI, dont we have to upload the e copy as well? If we are taking at BLS, how we can upload e copy during application?

SC you have too paste on the form. Created e-copy of it and used for OCI. Also OCI application allows you to update photo. That's what BLS does when they reject your photo.
