Good or bad I do not care, its the perspective of Canadians and their govt. The important part is "plateau" and totally forgetting to mention the massive spike in LMIA/WP.

When BQ MP asked why he didn't consult targets and how they plan to address problems of housing etc for these people, Marc responded "nowadays there is a lot of demand from people around the world to come to Canada". Not even worth commenting on this guy's actions anymore.

He gave an more silly answer to the question on IRCC not facilitating the HealthCare professionals transitioning into their jobs in Canada. When reporter said look the immigrants can't come and wait here in Canada for years waiting for the approvals or redo the medical courses to get qualification to work in their jobs in Canada etc.. MM says that is not IRCCs job, processing their applications alone is our work, after immigrants land ,qualifying related challenges is not IRCC problem.

Look, if you know how to hunt contract jobs (and are good enough to be known by the word of mouth) and you have enough network in Canada; I guess this question (is it worth to move to X) will not be even asked. You will follow contracts as people used to follow caribou in past.

I am only talking from the perspective of someone who is neither. I have always got a little bit of leg up due to my former colleagues and college mates. But then twice in my career I went on my own way. It worked out well for me.

Coming to Canada, for me the problem was that I had just one month of time to plan out everything. My team and subsidiary was closed, I had three months to get the next job. I was not supposed to do anything for 2 months of that and in one month only very little from home to support "sunset" of my subsidiary. For two months, I did absolutely nothing. Sleeping, going out with my wife to all the known tourist spots of Karnataka and even a trip to Nilgiri. In the last month, I decided to do something about the position I needed. I had many offers from teams in India but then I knew I wanted to move outside India. If not for anything then to see what the hell the fuss is all about.

One option was Australia but I decided against it (even though I had PR over there). My friend who was in management and a PR in Australia like me got a reject from Australia teams. So I thought, its better that we both move to one place in Canada because immigration is cakewalk in Canada compared to USA. I found one subsidiary in Canada for my friend which were desparately looking for a middle manager for a long time, he fit in there because they wont have to do a full loop on him. There was no engineering position there, sucks! So I found another one that had and just joined there. My visa etc was processed in less than a month and rest is history.

As they say there are many ways to salvation.

I was thinking about moving to Australia and was wondering if it was a good idea after reading the news about the difficulty of finding a job and the current housing crisis there. I got my canadian PR but I am hesitating to move back into the country because of the rent and I couldnt find a job. Now I can move to Australia (with immigration visa) but since the rent is also as expensive and job market is not particularly active ( for network admin / support role ). In addition, the competition is increasing as there is a massive influx of international students and temporary visa holders. I am not sure if I will be able to even find a shared accommodation.

I would be grateful for your advice and experience on finding jobs and living in Australia, especially in regional areas such as Newcastle, Goldcoast, Adelaide, Perth. I am really concerned about the rent and whether I will be able to find any accommodation, if I decide to move to Australia. I am also wondering if it is easy to find any part-time jobs there to, at least cover the rent.

In both countries finding the initial job will be a challenge which is where networking and currying favors from old pals, bosses etc...matters. Just for the rent if you move the smaller cities again finding a job in such smaller places will be a challenge. If you are not married you could try PGs in bigger cities also where you have a network to favor you getting a job is a better bet. Also, see GoldCoast and Perth rents are high, remember that as well.

Yes the folks who don't know you will ask for a local experience, Australia they ask for references also etc... which is where the network of pals, former colleagues/bosses who maintained good terms with you matters. I don't know your area of work so can't comment if Canada is any better. Yes on a PR is easier to get jobs than on a work visa and in Australia, employers do not sponsor you a visa which makes it even tougher.
Calgary might have cheaper rent, but I have no idea about the pay levels there. As much as the cost of living or which city is cheap, I would suggest researching places where you have a network to give you jobs or there are more jobs in your area of expertise also. Those matter as well.
