Thanks po advice. But on Mr Fraser announcement he did not say that u need to have AOR , MED OR BIOMETRIC to apply TRV..
He only say "WHO HAVE SUBMITTED"

"Fraser began the announcement by explaining that family members from visa required countries who have submitted family class permanent residency (PR) applications can apply for Temporary Resident Visas (TRV) to join their sponsor in Canada."
Are you trying to convince yourself or others? There is literally no point in doing either. There is no use of discussing what haven't been said. Focus on words that Fraser did say. And not only on one word "submitted". The speech is not that long and there is also a Q/A part.

If you read past the last page of this thread, and check other threads on this matter, you will see tons of opinions. But before we see any actual TRV approvals or refusals with quality reports from applicants - there is no point of arguing. If you believe that AOR isn't required - then fine, apply and tell us later. No one would stop you or tell you are wrong (they would be foolish to do so). You may be right.

In response to @CANGOODS query, apart from what one member was told on the phone about pre-requisite of AOR approval, I do not believe that such a requirement has been formally announced and maybe it never will.

My own thinking is that the more advanced the PR application, the brighter the prospects for getting TRV under the new program. I would think that if one has AOR, SA, biometrics done, medical done and passed, one should have a better shot than someone who simply submitted their PR application last week.

But then, I am the world's worst at predicting these things. In our case, we applied for TRV in March, before the new deal was announced. We thought at that time, since my wife's PR application had been in the works for close to 5 months and all those milestones passed - including medical - the TRV application would be bolstered. Wrong-o! Given the denial in a mere 2 days, I am sure it was never looked at. Her application was dead on arrival.

So, as tempting as it is to sign up for the new deal, we see it has likely to enrage the elves at the IRCC, to have the temerity to apply when we were given a resounding "no" so recently. So, instead of allowing my wife to visit this summer, it would probably have the effect of ending any hope of ever getting here. We fear the 3 refusals racked up already have greatly wounded her PR application and now, of course, we regret having tried for TRVs.

Of course you can apply. You can apply without being sponsored. The question is what can be submitted that gives the best chance of getting approved quickly.

Which is not necessarily the same as an overly-close reading of what a minister or rpess release says. We'll have to wait and see. Real life cases are not press releases - most cases might go quickly, that doesn't mean all cases will.

Now before you object - yes, I agree they SHOULD list all things that may apply. But the truth is that this is where things get complicated - because they may have different requirements depending on country, or other individual characterstics. Not all detail can get into these things. And yes, they'll tend to cherry-pick the cases that give shortest timeframes.

As an example - many applicants may already have biometrics. One step gone. Many countries don't need medical for TRV - assume they won't in this case either.

Personally I wouldn't suggest waiting for medical or biometrics to apply for TRv, but rather for AOR. But we don't know how long it might take and how exactly all of this will work in real life.

You can certainly apply without aor or bio and med.

It’s not proven yet, mind you, but if you are talking about higher percentage/probability of getting approved with the new announcement regarding trv, one would think that it is better to have aor even better with bio and med.

After all it’s about with the current family class sponsorship and with this they also said something like if the application is most likely will get approved anyways why not get them together sooner.

I did see a couple of people in different groups on fb stating they called and were told by ircc that they need AOR for the new trv measures regarding pr sponsorship. As someone mentioned above, those who do not have AOR your application has not even begun or been entered in the system so how will the system pick up that there’s even one in progress. Also some files are not even started because they’re not complete and become rejected so people have to start all over again as if submission never existed. Aor gives application number that you mention in a section for trv application where they ask if there has been any attempts come into Canada through any streams. This is where we entered yes ongoing PR application with the file number.
That being said we received AOR March 23. We then applied for Trv for the first time May 29. Less than 24 hours of applying both applications showed on pr tracker and gckey. Some things merged and whatever was done for PR application also showed on trv application: biometrics complete & bg in progress. So yes I believe the system was able to pick up it up. My opinion though.
you can apply for Trv anytime without anything but I believe for the new trv measures having AOR would be best as it’s solid evidence of ongoing pr. Without AOR it’s as if your file doesn’t exist yet.

Hello Guys,
I am confused and could not decide where to apply for my wife's temporary resident visa (TRV) specifically related to the recent announcement by Sean Fraser statement on 25 May 2023.

It seems there are two portals running parallel for visitor and/ Or TRV visas.

The first portal: (https://clegc-gckey.gc.ca/) is opened by using GCKEY - this requires submitting online FORMS in PDF. Login requires a username and Password. In instruction says "Sign in to your IRCC secure account"

Second Portal: For https://portal-portail.apps.cic.gc.ca/. Here all the forms are automated and online filled like surveys and required an email ID and password as opposed to the user name. In instruction says "Sign in to the IRCC portal".

Thank you!

Use the new (second) portal, as you said it's online forms and makes everything easy. Once you receive confirmation, you can then create a tracker account to follow along the progress.

Well said everbody,
But then if you have "submitted your application " and waiting for AOR .in which will take u for another 6 months or less then ill be choosing to wait for my p.r application to be done in my own country
My undestanding on "his" statement is that u can apply for TRV while ur PR still in process.

Thanks for the info.
This is what i receiced when i sibmitted my application online before the announvement..

Subject: PR Portal (PR application) - An application has been successful SUBMITTED on your behalf..

Then MAY 26 announcement made:

Fraser began the announcement by explaining that family members from visa required countries who have SUBMITTED family class permanent residency (PR) applications can apply for Temporary Resident Visas (TRV) to join their sponsor in Canada.

In addtion on his announcement;

As a result, these family members can visit Canada to meet their family while awaiting for permanent residency application decision.

meaning to say if i already SUBMITTED my application then i ll be just be waiting the decision aboard if i applied for TRV?

thanks again for your opinion

Processing of trv is supposedly much faster than PR application. You will need biometrics for trv and maybe medical. But is should be faster processing wise.

When people say it is better to wait for aor and better if you have biometrics and medical is becuase if you applied for trv they will ask this anyway. My guess is having PR application that is already well under its way it will be easier for visa officer to check the application if it will be approved in due time.

Hence, they are stressing out the word faster family reunification. While awaiting the PR application. They even added owp for spouses and dependent outland applicant that gets approved for trv so that they can go right away with working.

But even if someone have not submitted their PR application no one is stopping anyone from applying for this new trv if they have spouses in Canada. If they feel they can be approved with trv then go ahead. I’ve seen a lot of people even mentioned in their trv application the new announcement made by the minister. Maybe without PR application on process someone can also mention this when they apply for trv application.

Lately AOR has been between 5-8 weeks average.

You asked a question. You were provided an answer. You didn't like it. Your counter argument was based on logic fallacy (based on what haven't been said). And most importantly, you chose to ignore 12 pages of reasoning. It's fine to belive and act as you wish. But I suggest you review a definition of forum and discussion yourself. This is the place to question opinions because the truth is born in argument.

My friend it’s really up to you if you want to apply with trv first without applying for PR application. From reading their comments no one is really telling you to choose which one to go to apply first. It’s your choice.

But what I can see is that you keep on quoting the minister’s announcement in your comments and insinuating that one does not need aor “based” on your understanding. People with different interpretations and opinions will also comment on what are they thinking. It’s just a discussion.

All of us are still learning from this new announcement. It’s not proven yet but the consensus of the majority, not only in this forum, is pointing on the direction of at least should have an aor with current pr application.

Use the new (second) portal, as you said it's online forms and makes everything easy. Once you receive confirmation, you can then create a tracker account to follow along the progress.
Thank you for your reply! the second portal basically uses the term visitor visas and it doesn't use the term TRV anywhere, whereas the first one use the term TRV.
Is there anyone in the group who has applied for TRV for a spouse and let me know which portal to use for spousal TRV. A link would be helpful. thanks
