Sorry it doesn't apply to you, but this is a big deal - with potential benefits to you and to lots of others, specifically that staff will now have time to devote to looking at files in a bit more detail / devote resources to things that need human intervention (including family sponsorship).Sounds great until you spend all the time it takes for that video to get down to the details. Then we are told when does visa free not really mean visa free. The program applies only to those who have held a Canadian visa in the past 10 years or who hold a U.S. Visa.
I'm by no means immersed in the immigration world but this has been a no-brainer for years, both giving longer tenor visas to people that have already had visas (and respected the terms thereof), and repeat visas to repeat customers.
I mean there's a lot that IRCC screws up but changing their procedures to divert staff time from no-brainer cases has to be applauded.
And I hope it will turn out to benefit you. I wouldn't apply right away but once this new TRV-for-spouses-with-apps program stabilizes and we see some results, I'd think you might consider having your spouse apply again anyway.
