Hi. I would like to sponsor my wife for inland PR. She is now staying with me in Canada under her TRV. As per CIC website I qualify all the requirements to be a sponsor.

My concern is regarding my Residency Obligation (RO). My current PR card is valid till Feb 2023 and I do not fulfill my RO by then. I will only be able to fulfill my RO in June 2024.

I am thinking about sponsoring my wife's PR by October 2022. At this point my PR card is still valid but I only have fulfilled 6 months out of the 2 years of RO. Does me not meeting my RO pose any risk to her application or to my PR status via her application?

I personally plan to stay within Canada till June 2024 and then renew my PR card.

Not meeting RO poses risks for her application being refused and it also poses the risk that IRCC could open a case against you and put your own PR status at risk for failing to meet the residency obligation.
