Hello! I read on one of the threads that it is frowned upon to write a caption directly on the back of photos (i.e. wedding photos). Is this true? I'm about to put my wedding pictures in an envelope, and would love to just write on the backs if allowed. Thank you :)

I do not see why you cannot do that. I would do it that way myself. Although what I did was inserted the picture in a word document. 2 4x6" per page and typed in the comment myself and then just took the print out of that page..Guess it worked out for me since our company had a very good color printer...
But I think you shouold be ok to do that.

I wouldn't risk it if I were you, but I don't know if they have specific rules against this. We just stuck post-its on all our pictures, giving the IO's the option to pull them off if they wanted to but also giving an explanation as to what they were, where they were taken, etc.

esc - I did that for most of my pictures (well, all but the wedding and reception). The reason is because I'm using my house printer and ink is expensive! ;) I'm better off just throwing the copies I have of the wedding & reception into envelopes. I too did the 2-3 per page thing with typed captions. I hope it goes smoothly for me as well.

ekristensen- I hope I have big enough post-its! ;) We had a couple large group wedding photos. But you are right, better not to risk it. I'm sure glad the both of you responded with the routes I am taking. Many thanks!

I just wrote the date and location on the back of each photo. I thought it would make things easier when looking through them.

Yup me too. I wrote the date, location and who was in each picture. This was especially good when we were pictured with friends and family who had written statements saying our relationship is genuine. Also good for showing that we were on holiday in the places we said we were ;D Just used a sharpie lol

Hi,

We wrote in the back of all our pictures (date they were taken, place, names of the people in the picture when it was not only me and my husband, and sometimes explaining the occasion too, for example, first time I met his parents, first time he met my parents, etc). 1 month and a half before the passport request, all the pictures were returned to us.

The only problem is if the visa application is rejected and you appeal. I wrote on the backs of my photos, but when the gov't sent the CAIPS notes to me, they had only photocopied the photos, not the backs, so the appeal board won't know who anybody is.

I would be interested to see the thread where you read this.

I put the details of who's in the photos and when they were taken on the back of my photos and it was no problem. And I never heard anyone suggest it was a problem in their case. Except maybe in the case as canadianwoman's, but that doesn't say it was "frowned upon".

Hi Mita I was just reading your signature and noticed you did your Meds about a year before you applied for Fam sponsorship. How is that possible?
Also it all went extremely fast. Is this because the country was in Western Europe?

let's think more positive. in normal sponsorship application it's even advised to write a little about who is on the photo, when it was taken and event. there shouldn't be a problem about that at all. we had it done exactly the same and everything went just fine.

I decided to go with my original plan, plus post-its. All of my visits and living together pictures are 2-3 per page, printed out on my home computer (fine/photo quality) with captions on that page via Microsoft Word. The wedding, reception and honeymoon photos are hardcopy in envelopes with the little clasps on them labeled on the outside "Folder #, Tab #, etc and then what they are ("Wedding Photos"). Inside the hard-copy photo envelopes are the pictures (10-20 per event) and a post-it note on the back of each with the date, people and what's happening in said photo.

Thank you all for your help!

hello people! I have a problem .I did not write anything on the pictures and I forgot to write down when was the pictures taken. When I passed my application of sponsorship back in september to CIC-M. I only explained the events on one sheet. And now that my application is in manila.my wife received a letter to send her passport and other docs to the manila visa office of canadian embassy.I'm thinking is it ok to attach more pictures now with dates and everything at the back of te pictures. I'm afraid that after my wife send her passport, next month they'll ask again for more pictures.
