Hello,
I am a Canadian Permanent resident since last year. I got engaged back in Lebanon before I came to Canada.
My wife and I are thinking of getting married really soon to speed up the sponsorship application.
We want to have a civil wedding in Cyprus since civil weddings are not yet held in Lebanon.
Now In the lebanese law I should register my civil wedding to be registered as husband and wife in Lebanon and obtain a Lebanese wedding certificate
When I apply the sponsorship application to my wife, do I have to present the Lebanese wedding certification? or I can present the certification issued by Cyprus? If I can present the certification issued by Cyprus I will bypass the whole wedding registration in Lebanon because it's a real burden! And especially that we are planing to have a religious ceremony in Lebanon after my Wife gets her visa to Canada.
Please note that me and my wife both holds the Lebanese citizenship.
