HI Tam.1979,

Thank you for sharing your process with us here! Upon realizing what is ahead of us personally(after receiving your e-mail) I went to visit my husband Serdj977 in Serbia. So happy to spend those 5 weeks with him this year-I wouldn't have otherwise- we had no idea about the background checks, and were hoping the process would be over by March...

I wanted to mention regarding paying for caips- I sent my mom's personal check (was out of my own at the moment we were asking for caips...:))
Do they ask for a certified check now? If not, you can write it yourself or ask anyone in Canada to write a check for $5 and send it in. I remember being shocked with the payment options-seems so antiquated...

It is understandable that you are frustrated and angry- most of us are in similar ways. Our lives are on hold and consumed by this procedure...and we can not do anything to speed it up. I find it helps to block out thoughts regarding the process, and focus on my life now and good moments happening in it. Time will pass and our procedures will be completed eventually- we know our husbands are good people, not war criminals. We need to conserve ourselves so we have health and energy for what comes after.

All the best and a huge thank you to you and your husband!

Dear VasilisaPrekrasna,
Through all the waiting, frustration and misery, if our experience (and sharing it) can help just one couple, it makes it that much more bearable. I am glad that you decided to visit Serdj, because after all, what is it all worth if we can't be with the ones we love and have chosen?.... I have left everything I had (and had some) and liquidated pretty much everything i owned (and I owned some) to be here with my husband through this process.
Here is to hoping this is over soon!
Cheers!

Vasilisa, where are you living in BC?

W.Van. here. It would be cool to have a little get together when our husbands finally make it here. I think Krofnica is here too....

I'll make sarma! lol

Hi All,

All your information posted on this forum has been very helpful for me :)

I was notified today after sending an email to the Vienna office that my hubby is pending an interview and a date and time will be give shortly. Does anyone know how long it takes for a interview date? And if after the interview they issue VISA of everything goes well?

His file has been in Vienna since March 4, 2011, and the only additional information requested (May 4, 2011)was his military service and booklet, we sent back 1 week after it was requested. We never received and AOR, and after not hearing anything for 5 months I sent an email to Vienna and they notified me today that he is pending an interview....no too sure....any thoughts?

Hi,

I'm in a queue for an interview since Janary 2011. (8 full months) and still waiting... Few days ago got reply from Vienna, after inquiring about my case, that I'll be informed about date, time and place of an interview. You practically don't know exact date until they ask you to attend. Average time frame for waiting in queue is also unknown... After the interview they have to review it and that too take some time (few months).

In email with request about military records should be your husbands Client ID or UCI number. With that you can log on into ECas here https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do?app=ecas and check your AOR.

Cool, why not :) We should celebrate together when all this is over.
West Van is nice, I liked Lighthouse Park very much. Totally enjoyed watching Bald Eagles and their juveniles fishing at the Ocean. :)

I was chatting with my husband last night and I told him that things were moving along for some Vienna applicants. I said wouldn't it be funny if all three (or more?) of you were on the same flight into Vancouver? We'd have to greet you with a good old Balkan brass band, and they'd we'd all do a kolo together! lol

Anyway, yes, let's try to meet. Hopefully we'll all be here soon.

Lol!
Yes, great idea-lets! I can get some ground buffalo and rakija for that occasion.
Want to start a support group while we wait?
:)

A support group? Does it involve rakija?

;D Of course Cleo!
It goes without saying :)

Liquor store here has one type-sljivovica from Croatia, but there is a couple of brands of pear, and also there is grappa, so we will be set for our
get-together.

Update :
Received email from VO today with invitation to attend interview in three weeks in Vienna. Required to bring my passport and my military booklet.
Finally things are moving along for us after 8 months.

Wonderful news!
Do you have a translation of your military booklet? This is what happened to Krofnica's husband. He brought the booklet and then they wanted a translation even though they had submitted it previously. Better make sure.

This is weird: One of my husband's colleagues had a dream about him last night. She doesn't know about his immigration application, nor about us being married. He has to keep it secret or his boss would fire him. Anyway, she had a dream that he would be leaving the company mid-October. Isn't that weird?

I saw in the liquor store yesterday that they have Bulgarian rakija now. My husband says it's good too.
