It makes sense to have it translated in your home country by a certified translator. I sent mine the words that had to be stated on the translation. There was no problem.

Also, it would not make sense that all translations have to be done in Canada, since most applicants apply from their home countries...

Hello Spaceexp,

I am reading your timeline. It's says your visa office is Vienna/ Ottowa.
I'm from Holland and my wife is sponsoring me. I had an upfront medical exam on sept. 4 2014. CIC Mississauga received our application on sept 12. On Oct 28 - Sponsor Approval. CIC send our package to CPC in Ottowa, instead of Vienna, due the fact I'm a Dutch citizen. This was also in your case?
Your application went really smooth didn't it?:-)
Hopefully the same for my case.

Do austrians need to send their passports to Vienna? Or are they visa exempt?

Actually, my case was different. I was processed in Vienna, and then the final part was done in Ottawa, because I was already in Canada and I chose to send my passport to Ottawa. My case went smoothly, except that last part, when Ottawa made some mistakes, which prolonged the finalization for about 2 months.

In your case, they sometimes leave applications for citizens of EU/visa exempt countries in Ottawa. You should join Ottawa thread for other information - processing was about 6 months in Ottawa, but lately it slowed down. My only advise to you is that you should double check every communication you get from them, because they have been making mistakes lately. I still think you are lucky and that your case will be processed more quickly than it would have been processed in Vienna.

Good luck :)

It gives hope to hear words of encouragement. Thanks!

I really hope so.

I really hope so.

I know what you're going through, and although it's annoying, especially the waiting process with no information from CIC, this forum and talking to people who are doing the same helped me a lot. So every problem/issue/though you have you can always ask and share on the forum.

Thanks for the feedback guys.......I wrote a Letter to Vienna Visa Office today

My partner A.M. and I have not heard anything from the Vienna Office in 17 months (Oct 15, 2013). We did receive a confirmation letter dated March 10, 2014 that you had received Mr. A.M new passport. We don’t know if the file was lost, or perhaps buried at the bottom a stack of applications.
Can give us some insight as to why it's taking this long and is there anything you need from us? So we can be united, as partners again..

Hopefully there will be a response soon.

Well guys, my time has come...

We received passport request! We applied in Mississauga in October of 2014. Mississauga took a bit longer than expected but luckily Vienna was very efficient in our case.

My only advice is to address them politely and honestly - mentioning "piles" or "anger" probably does not help, in my opinion. I may be wrong. Even after our TRV was denied, I still addressed them politely with uttermost understanding... I felt that letting emotions type letters may result in no response or such.

This news tops my wedding day-----best news ever!

I wish everyone tons of luck!

Hi everyone;
As mentioned in my previous post, Vienna requested a document from me, which I sent 10 days ago to them by ordinary mail (as they specified). Now, mail within the EU Union should probably not take longer than that.

Do they send an email confirmation they have received the documents or one just has to hope they did?
There is a 60-day deadline and I'd really like to have peace of mind knowing they have it or not.

Has anyone after sending documents consequently sent them an email requesting confirmation upon their receipt?

Thank you very much in advance!

We just did the same thing last month, but we used fed ex and we got a confirmation from fed ex. Vienna never confirmed anything, but we also sent an email with pictures of the documents we sent by mail just incase.

Thank you for the reply!
Did they ever reply to your email?
I should have done what you did. I'm a bit worried now just letting 60-day pass by and then receiving an email with bad news...or just waiting and not knowing.

They have replied to 2 of 4 emails. That was not the one they replied to. They sent us 2 emails with questions and requests and those were the two they answered acknowledging that they received the information. The other 2 emails we sent was us offering new information ie. Address change, sending of updated medical and police check. They did not respond to those.

We are waiting for registered mail from Vienna, and my husband said it should take no more then 2 weeks for regular mail from his expereinces with Austiran Canadian mail.

Valmiri, Im sending positive vibes your way... :)

Now a serious question: on what days and during what hours can one go in person to get passport stamped? I'd like answers from recent Vienna embassy visitors. Hubby says he saw Thursday's only somewhere... I know someone had an interview Feb 5 and that was a Thursday ::) Thanks!!!!
