Well....we did the flagpole thing at the Lewiston Border crossing near Niagara today. I made a little mistake at first. We drove past the Canada border guard drive through and turned around and drove towards the CBSA gate thinking we would just get pulled in to the office for the PR process to be completed. Spoke to the Canada border agent and she said they do not allow people to just flagpole, we would have to physically enter the states and then come back in (my mistake)...she said we should go for lunch or shopping or something. She was actually quite nice, but not very keen on flag poling. So being that we didn't wanna screw anything up, we went towards the U.S.A side and got to their drive through gate, the two guys (one in training) asked what was our reason for visiting and we told him we didn't want to enter the states but just wanted to complete my wifes landing at the Canadian border office. He said why don't you just flagpole and I told him that we weren't allowed and that we were told that we needed to physically enter the states. He said that all he has to do is give us a piece of paper and we should turn around and drive through Canada border gate again...so we did. Once we got the paper from them we went through the Canada gate again (different gate than the first time...on purpose) and we handed the agent the paper and she said to go to the office and talk to immigration. Once inside (it was completely quiet in there) we handed my wifes PR papers in and within 1/2 hour we were complete and my wife is now a PERMANENT RESIDENT OF CANADA!!!

That's great...Thanks for sharing I also got the link from jagoda83 though a private message.

I noticed Processing Time is climbing again. Sponsor approval was 30 days a year ago, its now 3 months + the 17 Vienna has it. 20 Months in total.

Family Class Sponsorship is no longer a priority for the Conservative government.

i have interview on tusday at 2 pm. wish me good luck.traveling tomorrow via bus to vienna.

Whats going on with Vienna office . I thought they are working faster now,it has been 3 months how our application was approved in Mississauga and no a word from them. Its so frustrating and it getting harder every day,we should spend our first months in marriage together not on the diferent sides of the world. Do they have a soul,do they even try to understand us and how much we miss our loved ones. Spouse sponsorship should be priority for the immigration office. I dont understand what is priority here right now >:(

I am sorry to have to say this, but the time you are waiting is completely normal. You cannot add both Mississauga and Vienna times, those are separate. The problem is that your first part took long, but the second part that is processed in Vienna takes longer. Just look at my timeline for example, and I didn't have an interview (ignore the last part after PPR, that part was Ottawa). Unfortunately, I haven't heard of many people that were processed in Vienna in less than 6 months.

Also, they will NOT contact you unless in two cases:
  • something is missing and they want you to send it - you don't want this, as it will prolong processing
  • they need your passport to finish processing, and you will probably see your ECAS going "In Process" before that

Sorry if I sound cold, I completely understand how you feel, just the fact is that they don't care. You are on a waiting list, and nothing will be moving until they start actually working on your case.

I've heard about cases like that, but unfortunately they are rare. There were some people that applied after me and got approved before, but that happened because they made mistakes at the last stage of my process. To be honest I was surprised to get a PPR after a little over 6 months, I thought I would wait even longer.

Good thing with me was that as soon as my file went in process I got a PPR (in a day), so I guess if you have a straightforward case, once they start processing they won't keep it much longer.

Do you know where was that couple from? People from EU get processed a bit faster than us in Vienna...

Hi,
Vienna started processing my husbands application on Jan 19. Today they
are asking for fingerprints and a certificate from the RCMP (he lived in Canada for six years and is a failed refugee)
Does this mean it's almost over and has anyone else had this type of request?
Hoping we're almost done!

My wife was asked in Dec to do her RCMP record check...once it was in their hands, she received decision made a week later. Hopefully the same will happen to you! :)
