Alvinn,

great news! It will be ok at the end, you'll see! :) :-* But can you explain a little bit more what is PIF? I didn't hear for that before? And how do you mean that your name has to be on it, is it a document of you or your common law partner? And finally, when did Vienna recieve your application? Thanks! ;)

Why would someone applying under common law need such a document? I am confused.

Yes, Milance, I read the same in the past half an hour! ;) Well, at least if they call me on the interview, I won't have request for that document. ;D I sent my application on 22nd of January this year. :D

Kopje,

we need Alvinn to help us with answer. ??? She probably knows why. :D

I googled pif immigration and its all related to refugee status unless it means something else. Makes no sense if its under PR app.

Me also found the same form connected to refugee status in Canada.

My guess is because its common law status and being from former yugoslavia. You arrive as common law then claim refugee status when you land or want asylum. In any case congrats and hope you send the form and get your visa asap :)

Alvinn mentioned that her name needs to be on her sponsor's PIF. That means her sponsor applied for refugee and got PR, now is sponsoring her. If her name is not listed as common law at the time her sponsor applied for PR, then she won't be considered a member of the family class. But if her name is on her sponsor's document (PIF for refugee claim), then she will get her visa.

Don't need to worry any of you common law would have to get that document, unless your sponsors immigrated to Canada after you entered common law together.

milance got it. it is for refugge..my partner is now PR but at arrival..for refugge and immigration purpose there is personal information form. in that form there is part where you put your family member or boyfriend-girlfriend ..and that is PIF. and that is th proof that vienna officer ask me about. proof that 3 years ago my partner put me in PIF.

Hi my dear friend Alvinn and Congratulations,

The Personal Information Form (PIF) is a document issued by CBSA upon entry for persons claiming refugee protection in Canada.

It's actually quite common for the Visa office to request this kind of documents from someone who applied before for refugee, so there is nothing to worry about.

You should have this document (Make sure the PIF has the IRB stamp). If you don't have this document anymore, you need to contact the IRB that has your records and have them mail a copy to you. It will take from 2 weeks to a month to get delivered, so go ahead and request the PIF ASAP..!!

Good luck my friend.

thanks cbn...my partner got it..and he has number of judge hwo run his case and she`s gonna mail pif to us....and it can be for couple days or 2 weeks.

Alvinn,
