I don't agree with most of the people here who don't like Canada. Canada is a wonderfull multicultural country.
That is excelent to work in. Notice that I said to work in, not to live in. It's really hard to start live here. I witnessed my parents having a hard time. It's gonna take a atleast 5 years to settle in. I fortunately came to canada when i was 14. The perfect age in my oppinion because I completed elementary in hungary. And started high school in canada. Thanks to this i speak both languages fluently. Right now I install hardwood floors everyday it's pretty labour intensive. But hey I make 7000$ a month average with it. Where else can i make that amount of money without a university degree? There are some drawbacks usually i finish work just before I drop from exhaustion and go home to sleep. And the samething all over again for 6 days. On the 7th day i'm so tired that I don't even want to go anywhere. The only social life i have time for is for customers... But I do this not for me. I do it for my daughter emily.
It will be hard, but it is well worth in in the end in my oppinion.
This is just my 2 cents.
Thank you gabiroli well said and always with very much sentiment.
It is not worth staying in a country if it makes you unhappy.Life unfortunately is not a walk on roses. We all have to try hard to find happiness. Missing one's birth country is absolutely justified. I met Russians from Siberia living in Canada and every time they spoke about their homeland they would cry.
I too felt homesick for Greece when I was in Canada. It is so natural! Unless you were born or brought up in Canada you will always be feeling homesick about the old country. Just look at your Immigrant Canadian friends. They are always thinking about the motherland but their children are content of the Canadian life and will almost never feel like their parents do.
Many of you said in the last few messages that you do not like Canada for this and that, but I like to say that I have always liked Canada for many other things and not because I am not allowed to drink beer in the street!
I love it for the vast open spaces, for the color of the maple leafs in autumn, for the humor (Yes Canadians have the greatest humor), Beautiful coasts Atlantic and Pacific, the great Rocky mountains, the lovely iconic towns of Ontario and Quebec, the Niagara falls ( a spectacle where many many people around the world are only dreaming to see) the aboriginal peoples traditions and festivals, the multiculturalism and I can go on forever!
Sorry guys and gals if you don't like living in Canada and I will never ever judge any of you because at one point 23 years ago I too left Canada overpowered by my homesickness for the Greece.
Nobody is perfect! 8) 8)
Let us say some happy things here in this thread. The feeling is already too heavy because of Vienna's attitude so lets just try to be a little more sweet and not too much bitterness! Please!
