Is it really true that it takes that long? know so many people from Bosnia,Serbia and Croatia in Calgary and Edmonton that got everything done in 6 months and some in less..

I know many of them as well. And i keep hearing it because everyone is always smarter then you lol. There are other programs where people bring family and spouses. I heard of a guy in edmonton that got his wife and kids here in 3 months. so they wonder whats taking us so long. he is here on some work permit nothing to do with what we are doing. But for spousal sponsorship it takes that long. I dont know when you filed and what your timeline is but the wait is long. April 2012 they closed canadian embassies in the former yu for all visa's. vienna is responsible for 12 countries. From what ive read and heard they have opened some of them for tourist, worker and student visa's. my guess is it will take 1-2 years before bienna is back to normal (6 month) average for spousal sponsorship. Vienna has been back logged..not sure if the workers strike had any affect on vienna like the other embassies. Even if your application is complete your police cert. will expore and probably medical because they take so long. Just stay positive

Thanks. This is really stressing me out, before I applied I just listened to friends and family that got their apps. done in less than 6 months. The application has been in Vienna for only 3 months now though, the only contact we got was for renewal of the police certificate about a month ago and nothing since then. Hopefully everything will be alright.

Dont listen to what others say it wont help. Unless they are best friends with the minister of immigration no one can help by always asking whats taking so long or they know someone who got here in 1 month hahaha. Did you re-send the police certificate? You will be lucky if your husband gets here before the end of the year. Remember each app is unique.

Yes, he resent it right away and then e-mailed to confirm and they replied saying they received it.

You're right, especially the older people tend to get on my nerves. They're either convinced we're doing something wrong or that it will take 3 years. we are trying to stay positive.

My wife gets at work all the time...older ladies that just gossip and know someone that got visa's in just months and she just isnt the tupe of person to argue and get into it with them. I remember in the 90's guys waited 1.5-2 years to bring their wives. Last 10 years its been around 6 months. When we apllied march 2013 it was 8 months and they just keep increasing it. This forum has been great support for everyone either sponsoring or being sponsored. At least you dont have to worry about sending another police certificate lol.

I dont think that will fast track your application. Might help if he is in a profession that is needed in canada. The biggest thing is making sure your marriage is genuine and that you paid your taxes and everyone has a clean record. I read that they actually look at weddings pics to see if everyone is smiling lol. You can sponsor someone without having a job. Its your responsibility to support your spouse. They look at age difference, language, religion and that you maintain communication after the wedding.

I do suggest keeping and saving any further communication, emails, messages, boarding passes, western union reciepts etc. i did and it came in handy when the requested it. I visited my wife twice and made sure to take photos and save everything.

So, my husband sent his passport via DHL
And he tells me that at DHL office they told him that Vienna will contact him once the passport is ready and then he has to call DHL to tell them to go pick it up
Im not really trusting this! Or im just inpatient again hehe
Has anyone heard of anyone sending by DHL
I dis tell him about terratravel that nada3 sugested but he was to lazy to call :'(
Anyway hehe i hope the way he has done it will be fine too but it just doesnt seem right

Im sure its safe but its that last stage and fearing someone f***s up lol. Im the same way and i think once we get to that i will be going over and going to vienna with my wife i cant wait anymore

This should be rain in calgary....on thursday i was out in shorts and t-shirt raking the lawn and wake up to more of this white crap lol.
