Wrong, the next one should be applicants from 2012 who are still waiting without normal explanations, and then from early 2013, don't you think?

Hello everyone,

I am new on this topic and I love the fact that everyone is in the same boat here, I felt pretty lonely haha. We just submitted our application to Mississauga and it arrived today, and then hopefully soon it will be forwarded to Vienna. Currently I am on a tourist visa in Canada but unfortunately it will expire the end of April, so I will need to go back to the Netherlands by then. Someone once told me that while the application is being processed the applicant can live and work in Canada, but judging from all of you I think this is false information? Does anyone know? Also, while I am applying for permanent residency, would I be able to apply for a work permit at the same time?

Hopefully one of you can answer my question! Thank a lot!

Welcome to the forum :)

You are just able to apply for an open work permit if you applied inland. But you applied outland so the only way for you to stay legal in Canada is to apply for a visitor extension online ($100) and/or try to apply for a work permit (Working Holiday, Young Professional, work permit with LMO)

Yes, obviously you were really lucky, because there are people waiting more than a year, so, it's their (our) turn now.

To add to this....last year i read they might fast track applicants (pr's) who are in a profession that is in demand in canada. Being an engineer has no status in Canada. Thats just typical european or balkan mentality. No one cares. They dont care what your profession is as a sponsor. If status is based on what you do then why do most self employed contractors in construction make more then engineers. As long as you pay your taxes no one gives a rats a** what anyone else does. Sorry to be so direct but thats the way it is. Consider yourself lucky to get your wife over so quick. Besides that is the normal processing time anyway (6 months). Congrats and good luck in Canada. P.s. dont look at status or wealth to measure someones worth. It will make you a better person.

Its true and i know that from first hand experience growing up in a serbian community here. Back home they look at you different if your a doctor, laywer, engineer but here that mentality doesnt fly. As a painter for many years and knowing all types of tradesmen make more then most engineers. Im not ashamed to wear dirty clothes and get my hands dirty. If you wear a suit and tie doesnt mean that visa officer half way around the world will look at your case differently.

Hhhhh, I know, I'm from Serbia too. Society here still thinks that only ''real & worth'' professions are doctor, lawyer, teacher, dentist, and others like an actor, cook, artist... are less worth. Unfortunately, that's the truth! That's why I was angry when I read a comment that profession has infuence on application.

Don't get angry cause your still not approved, not my fault. I just thought i would share what I THOUGHT, not what is really going on, to be frank no one here noes what is really going on we are all here for the one reason, we have no clue what goes on in Vienna. My wife is also an engineer in KOSOVO and i do still believe it has something to do with it. I work with contractors everyday and they definitely do not make more than a P.eng in Ontario, but its OK think what you like. Good luck to you.

Your emphasizing of your and your wife's profession is really unnecessary. You are engineers, we got it.
